I'm looking forward to seeing you at some of our races. It was great to meet you as well.

I'll be posting a list of those who have pre-registered sometime this week. It looks like we will have around 15 racers. Should be good!

I'm not going to have a Quickie 25 ready, but I'm going to come to the race anyway. The weather is predicted to be sunny and in the high 40's. It will be fun to see everybody and get some pictures.

So I'm going to bring the trailer stocked with some Club 40 ARF kits (and a few sport planes).

This is what I expect to bring:

Sky Raider Mach II - new version

2 solid red
1 solid yellow
1 solid white

Sky Raider Mach II - older version (special price)

1 solid orange
1 solid white

LA Racer 40

3 solid yellow

I will have one NIB Viper 500 in red for $110

I will have the Aero Precision Quickie 25 mounts.

I am currently out of Thunder Tiger Pro 40 engines.

I don't know if I will have cell service for the broadband Internet card so I can take credit cards or PayPal, so message me and reserve what you want and/or bring cash.

Too bad you won't be racing Don. Bring some of your C40 racers for the grudge racing after we get done with the event. Cell phones work fine up at our field.

Right now I have 12 pre registered racers.

For those wanting GPS locations here we are...Latitude: 35.88286982185716
Longitude: -81.45978212356567

There are also directions on the club website

there also http://caldwellaeromodelers.com/docs...9RaceFlyer.pdf
If you have questions about the race contact Vic Welland at

The weather is looking great for Saturday.
If anyone is interested I will be out at the field tomorrow afternoon doing some set-up work if you want to get some practice in.

I went to the race today. Got there late ... noon. But I got a few pictures. I'll leave the race reporting up to Vic or Seth.

Mostly I was busy selling Sky Raider Mach II's for Club 40. Four went to new homes.

And while I had wanted to get The Screamer ready for this race, I think it was actually better to have it in the shape I had it in. I had glassed the fuselage and tail surfaces, but had not glued the tail surfaces in place. So people could see what the potential ARF would look like with the fin/rudder and stab taken off.

Here are some pictures from the race.

Vic, A big THANKS to you for CDing the event. You've set the bar high for the next few races!! Some very good racing. Here are a few pics I was able to take. Check out the Spickler Quickie 500. 35 years old and was very competitive in the right hands

I didn't race but drove up from Powder Springs, GA and I was not disappointed. I took a lot of pictures but am leary to post as I do not know how to make the thumbnails that will enlarge. All I can do is post full pics and it does not seem to be the acceptable protocol on this forum. If someone would PM and tell me how I have about 15 pics to post. Thanks to everyone for your famous North Carolina hospitality especially Vic, Seth, John, Jim, Don and all the others I couldn't remember. I use to fly F1s back in the 70's and wanted to see this new two pole short course racing. The Quickie 25's were impressive and it really fueled my desire to get back into racing. Congrats to Jesse for winning the Bob Harris Buckshot kit with the funds going to the SPRA. Hopefully some I will get back up for your Club 40 racing. Don Stegall thank you for driving all the way over from Monroe to bring me the SRMII ARC and older ARF. Hopefully one of them will live to fly in one of the NC Club 40 races.

A great day of really close racing. The weather started out pretty chilly, it warmed up nice. Many thanks to Vic & Caldwell Aero Modelers for hosting the fist race of the season here in the Carolina's. I am looking forward to all the races on the SPRA schedule.

ORIGINAL: Marauderer

Don Stegall thank you for driving all the way over from Monroe to bring me the SRMII ARC and older ARF.
You're welcome Barry. I almost didn't go up to the race. But since you were going and I knew I was going to deliver at least one ARC kit, I knew it would be worthwhile.

Just meeting you and seeing the other guys made it worthwhile, though.

There were four highlights for me.

One is common. People love the mobile hobby shop. Especially when I have clearance prices.

Another was that guys were coming over to see the Smasher fuselage and the composite tail for it. A number for guys had never see a molded composite tail. The Smasher tail is pretty complex and I got a number of compliments on it.

The other thing was that I brought some Q-40 fuselages. There was a lot of interest in these. When I talked about Q-40 Sport with TT Pro 40's, it really got some people's attention. I can't wait to demo Q-40 Sport at some of the upcoming races.

We seem to now have a core group of guys in the Carolinas that are getting the interest of other people. Even if it's just the core group, it's enough to have a good time. I am very encouraged by the way things are progressing in the Carolinas. Thanks to Vic, Seth, Jay Marsh and all of the other guys who are working to get the SPRA off the ground.

I went by Don Stegalls house tonight. He cut 2 sets of wing cores for me while I watched. I am very interested in the Q40 sport.
He made it look easy. I got my starter kit. 2 sets of cores and prints. This should be a lot of fun with a TT40 engine. Especially since I can't afford one of the high dollar engines.
