Spring Pylon Race at CCRC 06-13-09
The Julian race is a very hard act to follow but CCRC is next in the SPRA race schedule. This will probably be a lot more relaxing on two poles. Mark your calendars, bring your chairs, tents and callers and plan to come race your Q25 and Club 40 on a 1/4 mile course. Jay Marsh your CD.

Well John. Seeing as you and Bob and I are all turning 17500 rpm, I guess I better do away with the 16K rule . Actually I didn't notice it on the flyer and originally there was a 16K max rule. I want to use the standard rules, as established and published by SPRA, which I think does not require a max RPM check. If this is a correct assumption on my part then we will not be checking rpm on Q25.

Just in case anyone wants to actually read the rules
The CD (Jay in this case) can add things like RPM check if he wants to for his specific event as long as the flyer and any other promotional material specifies it. (AMA sanction rules not SPRA's)

I'll be there !
Weather is looking pretty good with the smallest percent chance of a thunderstorm, late afternoon on Saturday. We will run Club40 in the morning and Q25 in the afternoon. 5 rounds each. I have heard from quit a few that they are coming so it should be good competition.

Had a great time.I did not get a chance to get another buckShot built but flew my Quickie 500 MKII with a .25. Did not loose a heat but did have one cut. John Gibson won both Quickie 25 and Club 40.
I built the Club 40 I hadgot from Don and asked John to fly it in the race. After check in I stuck the tail in the ceiling fan and broke it up a bit. A little CA and she went on to win the race! I'm now charging $25.00 each to ceiling fan tune all airframes before the race!!.
I forgot my camera but there were plenty of pictures taken!! Come on guys. Post a few!!!
Here's my little Quickie 500 MKII. A legal skinnyed up version of the Spickler Quickie 500I drew up while drawing up the original version for a kit run a few months ago. I had her set up for 424 but put a .25 on her and went racing! Surprized me!!

Barry, nope the wing is flat. I did change the airfoil slightly to make it a bit more efficient. John Gibson cut me the wing core. I also made the fuselage and wing orientation to meet current AMA quickie 500 specs. Used a Viper landing gear. Flies a little different than the “V” tails of my BuckShot but once you get use to it she really turns own. Kind of surprised me how well she did this weekend. <o></o>

Well, I may never win but I will always fly a low wing and conventional tail feathers if I have the option. After I get the four GSQ500's together I will look at your kit next. Do you have a price for the kit and what kinda wing does it come with?

Well Barry, as of now its the only one. I can work you up a price on a kit. I can put almost any wing saddle you want so you could have your pick of wings. I may be able to drawing up a built up wing if you don't like foam. Don Stegall offers several wings pre-sheeted that look really good too.
Are you going to make the Lowes Motor Speedway Race next month? If so I will let you fly her and see what you think!!

I should be home by 6/21 and hopefully all of July. I want to make all the July races I can. I think there are three of them at Lowe's. Anyway yes, I look forward to it.. I am not the big designer and will leave that to you and Don to figure what the best airfoil/wing to make. I will just buy it, build it, and race it.

The races at Lowe's Motor Speedway are on. Even though I've had my health issues, I will make sure the races go on. The web site is at [link=http://www.lowesrc.com]LowesRC.com[/link] and the flier is at [link=http://www.lowesrc.com/uploads/sps_2009_bw.pdf]Summer Pylon Series Flier[/link].
I am going to update the flier to use the SPRA rules ... www.PylonRacing.org ... so the races can count toward the SPRA season points. Most people are running the TT Pro 40 in Club 40 anyway and the only change will be that the APC 9x6 is required. And the APC 8x6 for Quickie 25.
On my health front, the swelling in my eyes is down with the new contacts. I got a new distance contact for my left eye at lunch today and I actually flew my Typhoon 3D in the yard. So I have hope that I will be flying glow real soon. And my spirits are MUCH improved. It was a real downer thinking I wasn't going to be able to fly.

Well, I've done some testing here with a few engines. I did find out that removing the exhaust baffle drops the RPM about 300 to 600. So I make sure the baffle is in. Funny, I've gotten better running engines that have more time on them. Seems to take a while to really break the .25 FX in. I need to tach my .25FX this week and see what they will peak at.
