ORIGINAL: BobHH: I did find out that removing the exhaust baffle drops the RPM about 300 to 600. So I make sure the baffle is in. Bob Harris
Well now, THAT'S interesting! I would have naturally expected the rpm to improve with the baffle removed. Guess I'll have to do some checking on this too. Thanks, Bob. BTW, my Buckshot fuselage is done and looks great, now I'm working on the wing that I got from Don.

GSJames,
That 19,000 + number was a little inside joke. At the race this past
weekend, the best I saw on my engine was 16,280. And that was on kill.
I was leaving about 400 less than that. We used 15% Omega fuel, and
it was a typ. day in the South with a high of about 90 and about 10,000%
humidity.Believe me, it was hot and sticky. Just what 2 strk. engines hate.
Hope that helps, and good luck this weekend..................

John G.

Thanks John, I knew the 19,000+ rpm was a joke (unless they were using a Cox 6-3 prop...) but I didn't know what other guys are actually getting and whether or not Iwas "in the ballpark". Now that I spent some time adjusting head clearances, plugs, fuel, etc. and have a reliable 16,800 on a MAS8-6 S1, I'll probably be alright this Sunday. Thanks.

Vic, he's talking about full throttle not idle!I've seen the tach on your little .25 FX. You need to add about 3000 to that reading!!!!

GSjames, I too thought about the baffle removal before I did some testing. Seems these mufflers are also tuned pipes. Look at the exit hole of a Nelson or Jett. They look smaller than the OS hole!!

10 years ago we raced Q25 up here and I remember low to mid 16's with 8x6 MAS props also. The prized ones were the older style that had a little wider blade, definately faster. I think I still have some

Thats the class that hooked me good.
