Engine O.S. 40PS for F3D
Hi, I'm Vicente from Argentina, no race this category in my country, but i love F3D, buy an ebay O.S. 40PS Complete Pipe and Spinner (all genuine parts)
I want to know if anyone knows what the settings for this engine?
Whats the best prop?
What fuel?
Whats the best Glow Plug?
wrote to the factory O.S. but I had no answers, just tell me that is discontinued, The manual is written in Japanese... Wish I could get an EVO Big Bruce for this engine.
I recommend you?
Sorry for my poor English.
Thanks!

RE: Need F3D help
If we know the year the engine was produced it would help in establishing some set-up requirements. There is no Nitro in FAI F3D fuel, was this engine meant for that fuel would be an example.
I would guess that that engine should turn at about 23k rpm. Do not use any plastic prop. The black APC Q40 props are good for that rpm but will probably need trimming to get there. if they are not available then start carving wood ones.
Whether it is for fun or competition F3D activity is not something that can be played with. It takes a lot of effort to make it all work. It is not "Buy and Fly".
We need more information.

RE: Need F3D help
the os40 ps was produced around the time of the Wangaratta ( Australia) world F3d champs- 2001. The japanese f3d team used them- short lived as everyone was then heading towards the NELSON engine. trevor henderson,nz

Trev,
Weren't the Wangaratta Champs in the early 90's? Bundaburg was in 2001, and the OS's were long gone by then. I don't even remember any of them at the Czech world's in '97.

Gary, shows how my memory is fading............I'm getting old. Yes, you are right- the Wangaratta w/c was in fact 1991............and the Bundaberg was 2001. Pleased you were able to correct that. I think the sand cast crankcases were evident in 91 and on memory in 1993 in Austria there were the diecast cases..............thats the year that Phelan and I as his caller got 2nd. regards trevor H,nz
