Default Strega/Jett Mods

I am currently racing a Phoenix Strega in a club class, but will be changing it to a Warbird Bronze class and as a result I need to add some performance to the TTPro 46 that I am currently running. I have been advised to get a Jett tuned muffler and did so however, to install it with the engine mounted in the current stock position it would require cutting out what seems to be a large amount of the wing between the wing-mounting dowels to get it to fit. Is this a good option?? Or, am I better off mounting the engine upright. Keep in mind this is a race-plane. Is engine position that important???

All help is appreciated.

Do not cut the wing. Remount the motor in a canted position so the muffler clears the wing.

The pics are of my Silver Strega with a TT PRO 61 and Ultra Thrust Pipe.

I had to move the engine around untl i was happy with where the pipe was at.

Rather than post a bunch of pic here is the link to my Strega pics

Rotate the engine until the muffler is on the centre line under the fuselage.

See picture.

Ed I think the Strega fuse is to fat with out major surgery and reinforcing what is left of the firewall.  It would be nice of we had the frontal area of a Q40 to deal with.

Nice looking Q
