Hitec 5685 servo question
Please share your experience with these servos in terms of reliability.
I suspect they are spin off from the Hitec 5645, but wondering if these also have centering issues like the 5645.
Another option is the Hitec 7975 with similar torque range, and slightly faster for same price range.
Application will be in Ziroli 98" ws P-51 giant warbird elevator location and 50cc 3D bird.
Thanks for feedback.

RE: Hitec 5685 servo question
the fist one is very low power and a cheap servo
the 7975 is Karbonite gear, way too weak for your application.
Never use such a thing in a 98 inch Built Mustang or even a 50cc 3d bird.
budget for 90 120$ servos and GOOD baterries and switches, short cuts in these type of planes always end up in premature expiry

RE: Hitec 5685 servo question
I think you get what you pay for with servos. I'm haveing issue with the 5685, I love hitec but these servos are junk, they have a ton of slop at center. I'm setting up a little 30cc edge and don't think they are good enough for that. IMO the 7954/7955 are both great servos, super fast and a ton of torque @7.4, they coast alot more but in a giant p-51 like yours will need more that the 5685/5645. Like nitro wing said heavy duty switches and batts are a must. I never bought into the big expensive heavy duty stuff untill I set up my first 100cc, and all I can say is it's worth every penny, it truly does make a difference. It might take longer to save and get parts, but in the end you and your bird will benefit.
Good luck
PS.. if any one has had issues also with the 5685 I would be interested to know how or if you got issue fixed. All info I find, all 5685 are like this, I have over a 1/2in of play in controls and sure dont want to leave it like that but also dont want to be out 5 50$ servos that have never been used. Thanks

RE: Hitec 5685 servo question
It appears to me that the Hitec digital 56xx series are junk with design flaws, whether it's 5645 or 5685.
Yet the 645 analog series are built like tanks. Numerous warbird guys swear by them. I've had limited but good success with the 645 in warbirds.
I was just thinking, and probably flawed, that digital version should be better, but not really.
I'll stick with the 7955 for 3D ships and 645 for warbirds.

RE: Hitec 5685 servo question
I think your spot on there, the 645's are great servos for the price, I use them in my warbirds myself. So no more 56 series for me also, Thats what I get for trying to save a buck. Still dont know what to do with the 5- 5685 I just bought. Might just have to deal with it, only useing them in my all around plane. NOT my big 3D'er so it is what it is I guess. Good luck with the P-51

RE: Hitec 5685 servo question
I wouldn't call the 56xx series junk, I only have 5 or 6 of them, but none of them have given trouble, they are an entry level, digital, budget servo. Use them accordingly.
