[ul][*] Wingspan: 70-1/2" [*] Wing Area: 1692 Sq." [*] Flying Weight: 20-22 lbs. [*] Fuse Length: 78" [*] Power: 62 to 75 cc (Hmmm, can you say ZDZ80)

Yessir... that's going to be one sweet plane with the ZDZ80... Let's say it comes in at the higher 22 lbs... the ZDZ puts out over 50 lbs of thrust... Yeah baby!
It would be nice if the canister could be worked in there somehow and the tank placed on CG...

dirtybird, an ad in the current MAN caught my attention. It looks like mid October availability if you put faith in Tower Hobby's ETA...

I'm not finding the color scheme very exciting.
Wish they had something with a little more pep.
Just my opinion.

I think this is great!!! The retail price ($899.95) seems a little steep, but we'll see where the market place finally determines it..........

Just saw the ad an hour ago when my Model Aviation arrived. I think the 1.20 size is more my speed; how many zdz80's to total 50lbs thrust? I would like to see some specs other than advertising blurbs. Any tests out there? If God had intended airplanes to have one wing, Curtis Pitts would have built them that way!

There is another thread on here where people have been talking about this one since it was announced.
I can't figure out why this one is listed at $899 retail when the (almost same size) great planes pitts sells for $500 less! Assuming that $899 becomes a lower street price, it will have to be A LOT lower to get competative.

I agree-- $900 for an ARF is really pushing it for me. I also wish they had stuck to the BlueHawk trim. Still one of the catch-e-est planes out there. I REALLY WANT TO KNOW if this is the same 54" Dave Patrick Ultimate we know and love that has finally "grown up"

Wonder if they have plans to offer a 'kit' too like their current 54" Ultimate 10-300. I know it's been said before, I too just don't understand why mfgs dont offer both. Guess I'll wait and see what John at WFO Ultimates comes up with.
Funny thing on the pricing, the MAN blurp said $849. I was thinking that was sugested retail and we'd see $750-$800 for a street price. Kinda hard to see $900 when I paid $600 for my H9 Sukoi.

The Retail price on the CG Ultimate Arf is $1499.99 with a "selling" price of $899.99.
A bit steep in my estimation. A more realistic selling price would be in the neighborhood of $799 in MHO.

Way too expensive in my opinion. I think I'll stick with my 54" model for now. I could maybe go $600.00 for that plane, tops. As to the ZDZ 80, we just finished flying a 34% Godfrey Ultimate with that very engine for the first time on Tuesday. All I can say is WOW! That thing was a rocket. Good verticle and very impressive performance. Once it is broken in it should really be something.

A LOT of people are reporting 6400-6600 rpms with a 26x10 Menz-S using Thrust-HP to calculate you get:
54.5-58 lbs of thrust...
Up in the air I understand you pick up a couple hundred RPM...
The ZDZ-80 is known by people who just tell it like it is to be a real powerhouse.
I'm running a Bambula 24x10 for break-in, and will move to the 26x10 here shortly... I'll lose RPM, but supposedly will enjoy a good thrust.
Even now it hauls my 26.75 lb. Edge 540T Very Nicely!

Its about the best looking ARF Ultimate I have seen. Perhaps the color scheme is dated but you have to love the thin, raked landing gear and shaped cowl (cheeks and raised center line to the spinner), very reminiscent of the TOC Godfrey design. I think its worth the money providing the quality is there.

RE: What, no excitement about the new CG 30% Ultimate?
I have been waiting for an Ultimate like this since I got rid of my Dave Patrick 120 size to move into gas. BUT, its to expensive and to heavy, at 21lbs wingloading is going to be more than 30oz/sq ft. Thats not to bad for an older arf but todays 3D targeted arfs should be in the 25 to 28oz/sq ft range.
I would really like to have seen it targeted at the 50cc engines, like the Great Planes Pitts and the new Great Planes Eagle.
