Default where to get inexpensive 1/3 scale pilot

Spending 40 dollars and up to get a 1/3 scale sportsman pilot bust seems insane to me. Anyone know where to get one cheaper that looks decent

You can get a 1/3 scale civilian bust here for $20.

I gotta ask this since I'm already getting an early reputation for being the butthole around here anyway but with all due respect; you have a 1/3 scale airplane and you're worried about a $40 pilot v. a $10 pilot to complete it correctly? Forgive me that I don't get it but I don't.

I like getting value for my money. You can buy an entire talking doll for 40 bucks. Why should a 2 dollar piece of plastic painted by someone making 50 cents a day cost 40 dollars. This hobby has MANY overpriced products, some I can do something about some I can't. The pilot is one I can

I also don't see any pilots at reids

LearningMan, Do you have any "big" planes? If not you may not realize just how much they can really end up costing. By the time you figure in all the small stuff like pilot, spinner, prop, tailwheel, hinges, etc.. you can really add up the dollars. It would be easy to accumulate 20 bucks in hinges alone, and 30 for a good tail wheel, and a spinner around 50-100. Now there's another 100+ bucks into one airplane. And you still don't have that 40-60 dollar prop yet! The big planes don't nickel and dime you to death, they 10 and 20 dollar you to death!

I agree with Tom (smallfly) there are way too many items very overpriced in this hobby.
I understand suppy and demand, and I realize we in this hobby don't have much demand for porducts, but I still feel that some companies charge quite a bit for their products. Of course we keep buying them so I really can't blame them either!

I happen to own 2 33%'ers and 4 1/4 scales as a matter of fact. I WISH my planes $10 and $20'ed me to death like you claim. Mine don't. They have typically $100'ed me to death. I tried to drop the topic by just acknowledging what he said because I do agree with him and you; things are way overpriced in this hobby, but then again; when I got into big scale birds, I KNEW what I was getting into. I didn't do it with blinders on. If the $40 pilot was my biggest concern, I'd have no concerns.

sorry if that's not the answer you were expecting. I bet it wasn't.

This is a hot topic with the IMAC gang. I know those of us in the Northeast are willing to succede from the union over it. Why it's required I still don't have a "valid" reason for and I think I have heard them all
