Pilot 1/4 Bellanca decathlon

No worries ! Mine tipped the scales at 20 lbs, ready to fly, minus fuel and had an old Quadra 35. Great flying airplane, do replace the aluminum pieces on where the struts attach to the fuselage, on the struts and fuselage, use brass instead, I lost my first one on a slow and level flight but I did do a lot of maneuvers with it, it won't fly worth a hoot on one wing, you can't see when the aluminum fatigues. The G38 is perfect for it, the spark plug wire will protrude out of the bottom of the cowl, the Quadra did not. This is probably on of the best kits ever offered of the Bellanca Decathlon, I still have one in the box ready for my third Decathlon. Enjoy !!

Does anyone know if a CNC wing kit can be bought for this kit, the 1/4 scale Pilot/Ok Model/EZ Decathlon? Years and years ago there were tons of CNC cutting services available, and nowadays all I can find is foam cutters.....

Looking for a canopy
Does anyone know where I could get a replacement canopy? My plane has like 3 flights on it, has been show-pieced for years and has minor stress cracks on the top corners from age. Would the Great Planes version replace the Pilot version? Who would you recommend to duplicate the canopy if I sent it away?
Thanks for your time.

Pilot 1/4 scale Decathlon kit
Just won a Pilot Decathlon kit on eBay. Been waiting and searching for a long time. This will be number 2. I built one in the early 90's. Flew it with a Supretigre 3000. Strut failure destroyed it. I noticed a lot of discussion about strut upgrades. Also built 2 of the 40 size versions back in the mid 80's. Flew them on small Saito twins.

I built a 60 size Decathlon in the 80's and several other Pilot kits. What a pleasure to build!

Hi Mike
You wouldn't by chance of taken tracings of the fuselage kit parts?
I would love to scratch build this 40 size model by Pilot which is very true to scale. I have the plans but they are a bit light on templates,
Cheers

I did not. It was long ago that I had the smaller Decathlon kits. A time when the kits were available and no need to do any tracings. And as a note, the 1/4 scale kit I won on eBay a couple months ago turned out to be a box of scrap balsa. Ebay came through and reimbursed me for the transaction. So now I am back to square one looking for either size Pilot Decathlon kit.
