Btw, xp8103, you are right, we have little cars... Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini.
I wish to drive once a US car with 5000 cc in front not going faster than 110 km/h and I am no talking about the handling of US cars... LOL.
Cheers from Europe !!

Geez, I know what you mean, those Vipers and Corvettes just can't seem to handle right unless there going 180 mph on a curve.
Of course, when your used to yugos and puegot, I guess nothing compares.
By the way, nice video...I'm just glad I wasn't on board for that landing!

I've cut my teeth in R/C on 40/60&120 size planes. Now I'm going to the 80 - 120 inch w.s. planes (WARBIRDS). Anything bigger will be a REAL WARBIRD!

I stand to be corrected, but in Aust, we can built as large as we like, but if over 7 kgs, then it requires a permit to fly undergoing a safety inspection as well, and if over 25kgs, then the Civil Aircraft Safety Authorioty (sp?), must approve it.
But the largest that most clubs will go to is the 1.20 size

Airbatic..
Why do you say that? The AMA is great.. Sure it has it's laws and regulations but what organization doesn't?
I would LOVE to see the biggest baddest R/c planes in the world here in the states... But if you think about ityou can't fly them at alot of flying fields.. Alot of our fields are now being sorrounded by homes, roads, and bussinesses.. Then the people who have built around your field will complain about the noise. Then it will all get back to the AMA somehow.. Hense or noise limits and size/speed regulations.. Sure if you want build the biggest baddest thing and head out to the desert away from people and the AMA and have at it.
But be thankful for the AMA and what it does.. Its quite possible that without the AMA we would have no model flying in the US

The AMA sets limits on what size plane you can fly and still be covered by AMA insurance. You can build and fly larger aircraft at a non sactioned location, but it is your responsabilty. You can even fly much larger aircraft at an AMA event, if you have had it inspected, have the waivers from AMA, your own insurance, & the CD says ok. there are still some limits, but not real sure what they are. If AMA had to insure the huge models, our dues would be sky-high(er).

Hy guys!
I went to La Ferté 2005 this week end! It was amazing and completly crazy! The biggest plane was powered by two 680cc engines! I couldn't believe my eyes! Can we still speak about model aircraft? I regret that in Europe there arn't any limits so each people is trying to build bigger and bigger planes! Where is the point? I think were are in Europe totally unreasonnable!
Here are some pics:

RE: WOW ... GIANT scale in Europe is BIG
Hi
In the Uk anything over 20kg has to be checked and flight tested under the supervision of the LMA (Large model association)
this includes inspection during the build, during flight tests for approval and to ensure the pilot is capable.
And as far as i am aware the inspectors report to the LMA and our CAA,(FAA in the US)
No approval , no fly the plane. pretty good and safe way of ensuring both the pilot and aircraft are up to the job.
