Default Cermark Pitts S2B arf Bipe

Hi, I am considering buying the new Cermark Pitts S2B. Has anyone out there have one or getting ready to build one. I am thinking about putting a G26 as power. Would like any information that might help to decide.

Thanks Rudder Phil

Got this plane for Christmas with G-26. Just finishing up, just minor things to do. Too cold to fly though.

PM any questions.

The Cermark Pitts is a Very good flying bipe. It's not as sensitive to rudder as the Great Planes Pitts, and is much easier to land. The G-26 should work out well. You are going to enjoy this plane.

I powered my cermark pitts with a Quadra 35 with hitec 625 servo's on everything except throttle. Great vertical performance although not unlimited. I also have the skywriter smoke pump on the plane. This plane looks great with smoke while doing rolls and loops!!!!

I'm thinking about putting a G-45 on the Pitts S2B. [X(] Don't have anything smaller on the engine shelf.

G-45 is way too big for this air frame. I have a G-26 in mine and many are going with 1.10 or 1.20 size glow engines. You would be putting too much weight up front. JMO.

Iagree 100%. Both of mine had YS 1.20 power and flew like a dream. A heavily-loaded Pitts will do nasty things when slowed down for landing. Mine wighed 11.5 lbs. My complete review should still be here on RCU somewhere. Jim

I don't use glow engines over .75 in size. Too expensive to feed them the fuel that they require, and the carbs suck. So, using a 1.20 glow engine is not an option for me.

I AM flying at almost 5000' elevation, so I think it's gonna need at least a 30cc engine.

It's just a dream. The G-45 would certainly make it a rocket ship when going vertical. But, that would also be at the expense of good handling in all the other areas. I think it's just too heavy.

If the plane had another 200sq. in. of wing--I'd most definitely do it.

I was thinking of getting one of these and putting the Saito 180 i have here on the nose. Any one have any thoughts about that plane engine combo?

I'm with you Pete,

If i ever buy one of these planes, i'll put in either a Saito 180 or 220. Light weight, HIGH POWER equals a GREAT flying plane. For that, i could deal with the expence and mess. By the way, exactly what makes it a "new version" did Cermark change something on it while i was'nt looking??

This is a light aircraft. Putting in large engine is bound to cause problems with the landing gear. I would think a G26 with EI is about the maximum you want to put in there.
I had one about 5 years ago with an RCS 140. It was a good match. Put a pipe on the 140 and you would have a real screamer. A G45 is too much for the airframe. Ditto the big Saito four strokes.

Mine is equipped with a YS 120, 17 x 6 APC and has more power than it needs.

Flies great and does excellent inverted flat spins.

Am thinking about adding a smoke system over the winter.
