1/3 Scale Flybaby Bipe
I have a 1/3 scale flybaby bipe that I am in the process of rekitting. it has been sitting for the better part of 5 years, and the guy I got it from doesnt know much about it. It weighs in at about 17lbs with no electronics, engine, etc. I would like to get some recommendations on engine for this bird. Im on a budget, so i was wondering what your thoughts were on a wacker conversion? Would that be enough to power it? I am not looking for aerobatics, etc; just nice easy scale like flight. Seriously, I would like it to just take off, fly around in circles etc. no loops or rolls or the like. If not a wacker, then what would you think?

Canopy2k, Check out my gallary. This Fly Baby is more tha 20 years old. Powered by a quadra 35. The plane is a fantastic floater. Built by Don Martin of Minneapolis, MN.

My Fly Baby bipe is powered by an RCS44B2. Flys very scale like. I had one two years ago with a G-38. It also flew very scale like. I don't think the typical conversion motor would have enough power. Its a big airplane. You would have to put in serious power to do any aerobatics- then I don't think the structure would handle it.
The construction of the wings is very weak. Don't leave off the flying wires - they are functional.
I am in Mesa at 480-984-8036 if you would like to see mine. I have all of the plans.

Hey I stuffed a fuji 50 in mine, it hammer heads owesome and can hange on the prop and start torque rolling before she falls. wouldn,t try this a lot though dont know if the air frame will handle it. My plane is covered in cloth and painted, servose in the middle and balances pretty good at 21.5 lbs. floats all the way across the field a couple of clicks high on trim. bring it in at about 1/4-1/3 throttle lots of drag with the wires and all, but sets down good with the tail off the ground.

Hi.....I'm finishing up rebuilding a crashed one. Putting a Quadra 40 on it. Finished weight s/b 18-20#. Gonna look a lot like Trapnell's bipe when done. This one came out of Mpls also, but I don't remember the guys name.
Post pics when you're done !!

RE: 1/3 Scale Flybaby Bipe
Hey guys, I just wanted to put up a couple a pics of mine so far. Does anyone have any idea why certain things are different? Such as the empennage shape? The upper wing mounting structure? Mine is steel rod, while the others seem to be wood? Any Ideas? Also, I do not have a cowl. Do you guys that have one think that a standard cowl would fit here? Could anyone post some photos of what yours looks like with the cowl off? I would appreciate it! Thanks!
