RE: Vid of my New H9 Cap 33%
WHAT!!! are you NUTZ trying to fly that plane on one aileron servo! It will never work!
Your gonna stop the earths rotation doing that...
LOL. Just trying to get that out of the way because you know someone is gonna say it..
Awesome video as usual John.

Yeah, one 8611 per aileron, one per elevator half, and two on the rudder. I just covered over the factory two servo holes per wing as mine is in a totally different position than those. The wood around the servo pocket is just for the covering to stick to.

Hmm very cool man. I got to stick to the 2.6M composite arf[8D], I cant change my mind NO more lol. I just wish they could do a one aileron mod wing for people who want only one servo per wing half.

thanks for the vid and thread john.
im thinking about 1 8611 (or futaba/hitec equivelant) on each aileron and surface on H9 extra #2 as well. since its the single bay to start with. keep us posted if anything changes!
what aluminum arms did you use for them? H9 fit?

The only equivalent of the 8611 I can think of is the Futaba 9152, though I'm not sure how it compares in speed. If it performs like the 8611 then it would be an awesome servo.
John gave me a few minutes to wring this plane out today and all I can say is AWESOME! I can't believe how crisp it flies, and the video above does not do justice to the insane vertical this plane has. Just a perfect plane for crazy flying, lots of fun! I had to laugh at what Wayne said, I'm sure someone, somewhere, can mathematically prove that this setup won't work, but believe me, this thing rocks!

Ron, I had a single 8411 on my old H9 Extra ailerons, and they worked fine, but 8611s would be an ideal setup with the single servo position.

FWIW,
I am setting up a 35% Extra right now and it will have a single 8611 on all surfaces including the rudder.

In the air, performance wise, I doubt I'd be able to notice the speed difference. I'm VERY pleased with the Futaba servo's performance on the rudder of my Extra.

John,
You said you are running 4.8? Why not 6v? I'd love to make a setup like that on a 33%. Your right about the $$.
Here are some pictures of my new cap.

RE: Vid of my New H9 Cap 33% with single 8611 aileron servo's
The first versions of the H9 1/3 birds had some problems when the owners used single servos .
I blame the owner builders - but that's another story.
We have used a single 8411 0n all of our 1/3 H9 models - till the present one - and we decided to try the double 8411 .
The single worked perfectly -tho I did add a lead counterbalance at the root of the aileron- just for insurance -
If you are on a tight budget - try 2, 811 digitals - that also works extremely well .
We mix and match all JR servos - the servo speed means nothing - as long as the two ganged servos TRACK the same -you can mix a 811 with a 8411 -or a 4721 with a 8611 etc.
The servos operate under a load so the difference in rated speed never enters the picture.
I never mix JR with other brands tho -
That may be ok but we found some servo brands/types, changed range readings.
