Default Scam

Hey Guys,

Watch out for a guy using the name "skyb" member id 117625.....He is trying to run a scam where he asks you to cash a check for more than the asking price of the item,,,,in my case a plane....then he want you to send him the difference in the check by wire transfer or western union and he will then have the item picked up by international trucking company that he says owes him money.......Nothing about this seems up and up......

If anyone is interested, I can post his email.

Default RE: Scam

There's a million of these scam artists out there using multiple email addresses and not just related to buying model stuff. I get about 10 different ones per week on my business site, and 10 or more others from various points in Africa promising me millions to wash money through my bank account. There are so many warnings by the police and other agencies about these deals, its hard to understand why people even respond to these emails. The best response=delete key.

Exactly, JP. That's the scam

That this guy's username still exists on RCU in any form is baffling.
This was reported more than once now. (With no comment from the powers that be)

Seen almost this same thing about 9 months ago. Guy wanted to buy my bosses car and ship it to South Africa. Sent him a check for more than the amount and said to wire the difference back to him. We noticed the check was from a Bank in Florida so we called the bank and that check was made for someone else and already cashed. Bank did not want to deal with it and the FBI said it was chump change and did'nt care either!

Since this thread is about illegal activity anyway, I'm going to hijack it.

I just got an email demanding I provide my credit card and pin numbers for a security check or my account would be blocked. I wish these guys could at least be a little more creative.

As long as we can keep everone advised about this guy, he won't be able to run his scam here. Tell every one about him....make it a note in your club news letter.....

Just tell them you ONLY accept the new USPS money orders for the exact amount. That should help alleviate the scams.

Well, we'll all add Silverj to the list of of scammers here to "look out for". Thanks!
I wish RCU would delete/ban these users, as they are made aware of them... but "so far", they will not

Why is that? Seems to me that if someone was attempting to take advatage of my customers (the users), I would do everything in my power to stop them...

In fairness, I admit I don't know if the accounts are still enabled or not. No way to tell.
I only know that RCU was completely unresponsive when I made other notifications.

It may be that the accounts are disabled, but still there for the "count". I don't know.
If that statement upsets someone, then you should consider responding to user reports when made.
(That way we wouldn't be left "guessing" )

Wait a minute. At today's nolo-existo interest rates, banks use your money for free and you call this guy a robber. Let's invite the banker boys to fly and rape them.

Gentlemen:

Scammers, once identified, are banned. Usually no one bothers to delete the posts they have made.

Skyb is banned, I don't know current status of the others mentioned here.

Bill.
