HELP - PAINT SCHEME FOR A COMP-ARF
Hi Guys.. I'm putting together a 2.6m Composite-Arf Extra that's currently the white top/red bottom. the simple house product. I'd really like to put a great scheme on it but I'm at a loss. I've got a couple of ideas but I'm asking for your help in giving me more to start from.
Would you guys go through your inventory of pictures that you've gathered over the years and post (or e-mail) me with what you think is an outstanding scheme? Even if you don't think your pictures are awesome, just post them. You'd be surprised how much even some of the plainest schemes could be the start of something wonderful.
John

I would go with Vinyl graphics..much lighter and less cost...paint will add alot of weight...I used Vinyl on mine, but DID paint white stripes on the bottom wings (Red/White stripes)...looks cool..

Okaaay Mark. May be just a tad wild for me, but that's a start. Thanks for posting it.
I hope all you other guys pitch in. Post anything! I need a starting point.

RE: HELP - PAINT SCHEME FOR A COMP-ARF
John, I am in the same boat but have been flying the heck out of my plane. I was out with it all day yesterday. It is kinda hard to see being all white. I have collected a ton of full scale pictures and RC pictures for reference. I hope sometime soon something really catches my eye and I get some paint or vynal on this 2.3. This plane is so fun to fly it is sic. My transmitter gets passed around like crazy! My old instructor is a business jet pilot, came out yesterday and loved this plane so much I could not get him to give it back. He seemed to think that an all yellow scheme might look nice on top. I thought that might be ok if I got some checkers for the wing and tail from John.
Who knows. Did you mount your canopy yet John?

RE: HELP - PAINT SCHEME FOR A COMP-ARF
Here are some pictures of my white/blue composite arf 2.6m that I did in vinyl with the help of a local full scale aircraft graphics house (insignia and numbering for jet airliners, etc.) called Aerographics in Loveland CO. www.aerographics.com James from the company is part of the family that runs it and he did me a favor and layed out a beautiful modified schulman scheme for my extra. Took lots of vinyl but I really get a lot of complements on the look.

Hi There,
I'm having the same problem, planning to paint the Extra. But reading about those vinyl jobs i was wondering how to get the vinyl around all those curves. Especially on the fuselage and vowling. Will this stuff shrink if you heat it?
Can somebody explain how this works.
Thx
Winfried

Dennis,
I'm going to get it flying first. You know, get it in the air a couple of times then I'll paint it. That way I know everything is lined up correctly.
Shipping: $200
Paint: $100
Clear Coat: $80
The look on people's faces when it goes in on the maiden: PRICELESS
