I think the 5645s are good servos...especially for planes where only one servo is needed
per control surface. Sure the centering is not as good as the JR 8411s or the 8611s, but for
my type of flying (3D and basic/sportsman IMAC) I can't tell the difference. I would not use
two 5645s on the same control surface as is needed in the bigger planes. However, I have
used them on the H9 27% cap and on the DP extra for the last couple years, and they have
been great. The most noticeable difference to me between these servos and the 8411s/8611s
is speed. The 8411s and 8611s are faster. My next project is the Wildhare 33% extra, but I plan
on putting all 8611s on that one...mainly because more than one servo is recommended per
aileron.

People can continue to bash the KMP yak all they want, but I'm enjoying mine! If something
were to happen to this one, I think I would go with one of the TOC yaks. They seem too be
able to keep them in stock. My reason for going with the KMP yak in the first place was because
EF didn't have any more in stock, and waiting several months would have wasted much of my
flying season.

columbo.

Same with me regarding the 5645's. I had 5645's in the WH Edge to start with, and it was awesome... I got (4) 5945's in a trade, and replaced them in the WH edge... I couldn't tell the differences... I'm just a sport flyer that will throw in a hover, or elevator every once in a while... I simply couldn't see the difference in the two servos.

Maiden Flight was great!!! Balance was setup very. Did nice knife edged without coupling. Lands like a ***** cat. Didn’t do too much 3D for the first flight.

Thanks for the report FreedomFlier. I think your comment on the balance was cut short, I would be interested in where you started with the CG.

Did you opaque the canopy or is that just glare?

FreedomFlier, thanks for the report. How did the MVVS 58 do on the YAK? My set up will be pretty close to yours. What prop are you using? Keep us posted.

I second what zx32tt said. I didn't know you were using a MVVS 58. I too am thinking of using that engine, and would like any details(and hopefully pictures of the mounting) that you can provide.

Thanks in advance.

Congrats on the maiden. I too would be curious of the performance of the 58 in this bird.

My comments on the 5645's come from every single one of them I have, they all have the same symptom: sloppy , sloppy play in the gear mesh, trim changes in mid flight , markedly different speeds between pairs.

The 5945's are a world apart. Thats's all. I use the 5645's in a profile now and they are happy there. In a precision bird they have no place, IMHO.

My KMP will fly before July's end. I will post some post rebuild pics before I close up the covering.

I hope it flies straight, if not, no one will notice but me when it is 3Ding

I wish I had a spare of this bird, but alas, none in the hangar.

The canopy was painted siver by a freind.

Turning a 22X8 MSC with a bison muffler 7K. Purs at low idle all day long.

CG was perfect. Inverted flight required minimal elevator input.

I remember mine being right on the tube and it was a tad nose heavy . No other trim was needed other than a couple of clicks up on elevator.

I am curious about your CG as well.

YOu'll have to cut them a bit to clear the rudder horns.

Also, someone mentioned the tube was sloppy. YOu can use a little ultracote at the center and ends to tighten them up.

FYI guys I started a build thread [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3120187/anchors_3120187/mpage_1/key_kmp+yak/anchor/tm.htm#3120187]here[/link] if you want to put build info all in one place and away from all the bull...stuff...that is filling these other KMP YAK threads. I haven't started mine yet so I haven't been keeping up with posting to it.

I'll move the elevator info over there to keep it moving.

Default Extra canopy

[QUOTE=FreedomFlier;2404692]There is a plethora of varying opinions being generated, that are not based on flight characteristics. I would like to see some posts of building and flying experiences of this airplane. A friend of mine has one, and is going to install a MVVS 58 on the nose. The control surfaces are larger than a wild hare 84" (he has a WH 540 too). Not sure what the final weight will come to, but it will be very competitive for a 50cc class bird. We measured the actual span to be 84â€

I will post several photos for your enjoyment.[/QUOTE
Do u have an extra canopy for the yak 54?

I picked up one of these used. No manual. Does anyone have the location of the CG and recommended throw for the surfaces.
