Default Need Some 35% Help?

I am working on a small (4x8) trailer. Making some mods that will allow me to take two 35% planes to the field. Need a little help. Could some of you that have them, tell me how much clearance they need to slid under a shelf. I.e., What is the highest part of the plane when sitting on the ground (canopy or rudder) and how high is it.

I've also got a general flying question. I have a huge decision to make. I have been flying a 28% Edge and loving it. I no longer have the Edge [], but I am about to have two 33% 330L's (it's a long story). Anyway, I intend to sell one of the 330L's and get either another 28% Edge or a 35% Edge.

My problem is I have one DA50 and and One DA100. I think you can see were I'm going here. I haven't flown either of the 33% planes yet. Here is my question: When I do - am I going to like it so much I will not want a 28% Edge and will want to go the 35% Edge. Or is there really not all that much difference in the 28-35% range.

Thanks.

Hello,

On my 35% Velox I can remove the rudder. I use dubro hinges and piano wire and bend a 90 at the bottom and secure it with a screw on the bottom of the rudder. Makes it easy as pie.

Later

I doubt you will want the baby Edge after flying the big one.
Kind of like a moped and a motorcycle....

I had the same issue. I had a DA 50 in an Aero-works 31% 540T and it was a great combo. I had a mishap with the plane and while I was repairing it, I bought a 35% 330L. What a difference the extra size makes. I quickly sold the 31% and DA50 since I had no desire to fly it after all of the repairs were made.

i gotta agree...I too have been flying 50cc class aircraft and just moved to 100cc this summer. There is such a huge difference in the way the 100cc flies vs. the 50cc, I doubt I'll fly my 50cc planes much anymore.

Spalis -

Isn't it annoying how you ask some people for the time and they tell you how to build a watch??

What 35% planes are you looking for the measurments for? The dimensions change from manufacture to manufacture. If we know what plane you want the dimensions for maybe we can provide it. I have a 2.6 comp arf extra and a aeroworks extra and the height of both planes are different. Also if you have removable stabs then you could put the planes in the trailer side by side, one nose in the other tail in and eliminate the need for a shelf.

Geees, this isn't rocket science here. it was a simple question based in generalities only. But since I can't get that answer I'll re-word it in two parts:

(1) How tall is anyones 35% plane with or without the rudder? or

(2) IF you have an Aerotech 35% Edge I would be expecially interested in that measurement.

I don't have my plane in front of me, but a three foot tall shelf should give you enough clearance. The rudder is usually taller than the canopy or cowl on these birds.

2.6m CA Extra 330L 24.5 inch's
TBM 35% Extra 260 23.75 inch's

Both are the rudder tops. That's usually the tallest spot.

36% Aeroworks Edge 540 24.5"

You will want to sell your 28% after you fly 35%. I AM GOING TO SELL MY 27%.
