I use foam wheels on my Midwest Extra and they work fine. They do develop flat spots while the aircraft is in storage but after taxxing out to the runway you're ready to go. I fly off a grass field so the foam wheels last a long time for me.

The best light wheels are Dave Patrick's. I bought a pair of 3 inch from him in Chicago for $3.00. Darn good wheels. They only weigh 0.7 ounces each.

Yes, those are very good wheels. I think my Extra has Dubros, bu the DP wheels are lighter.

Why not just replace with another set of Kavan's? http://www.hobby-lobby.com/wheels.htm

Did your hubs break like mine did? I need to refit a set of skylight hubs to work with the kavan tubes to lose some weight on my plane.

The Hanar 9 ones are pretty darn lite, and they look/feel like real wheels, got 3.5" on my 27% extra.

Kvan makes 2 wheels. A rubber one that is ok but if you want light. And I mean the lightest, use there hard plastic wheels. They are truley the best and I think I have used them all. 4" is what I have on all mine from 27 to 33%. They get no flatspots and I have yet to replace one... Bob
