RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
Kind of odd that there are HUGE Extra 330S build threads, but not much on this. I have one completed with a ZDZ-80 and Bisson Pitts but won't fly it until spring. What do you need to know that doesn't pertain to performance or flying?

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
Just started putting mine together yesterday. So far pretty standard ( very good ) H9 quality. The elevator servos go inside the horizontal stab so if you're going to use 8611's like I am you will have to do a good bit of refitting on the inside servo trays and you can't glue the stabs in like I wanted to.
Putting a DA100 on mine. Easy mount other than it needs 3/4" more standoff than the Extra or Sukhoi did.
The fit and finish is excellent and it is built light. Should be a great flyer. There is a thread already going on this plane where a few of the guys are already flying them.

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
Gents,
One word of caution on the H9 Edge 540. Put the wings and the horizontal stabs on the fuse. Check your wing gaps, but more importantly stand in front or behind the plane and have a look to make sure your wings and hor stabs are in line with one another. I had two fuses sent to me and in both cases the hor stab was at an angle to the wings or vice versa depending on you looked at it. This of course would make the plane fly funny. I felt based on the cost they could at least have level wings and hor stabs so I got my money back.
Cheers

I had to get a new fuse... the new one was straight. I have a 1/16" gap between the leading edge of the left stab and the fuse... I think the tube is in the stab crooked. I may see if they'll send me a new one, though it's already hinged. I should've checked it earlier.

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
The fire wall on the Edge540 is drilled for a GT80 twin. Alot of people are using a engine adaptor plate for the Extra (same pattern), which Chief Aircraft carries. I made my own stand off motor adaptor. I have 5 flights on mine in late fall, seems to be a good flyer. The landing gear support was a area I beefed up, but I havn't heard of any failures in this area as of yet. Make sure you have the canopy hatch screwed in place, before you in stall the canopy to it. Other wise you may distort the hatch, and it will not sit on right after. Tru turn makes a 4 1/4 menz cut spinner.

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
I'm still in a dilemma as to whether or not I want to send my stab back... they offered to send me a pre-paid postage label to return my old one, but it just sounds like a pain in the arse. I'll have to deal with international mail again, have them NOT read the message I enclose so I get charged $30 in brokerage fees again, have them send it to the wrong address so I have to chase it down again, I'll have to re-drill a new tube, re-hinge the elevator, cut out the too-small servo hole to fit my 8411 again, buy another RCL70 linkage, re-program my radio... granted, I should never have gone through all that installation in the first place, but I was sick and bored.
I have half a mind to just tell them to forget it... If they want to send me a new stab, fine. They've seen the pics. If not, I'll fly it like it is and when anyone asks I'll tell them that this is what they can expect from Hanger 9. They already have to live with gaps between the wings and fuse as bad advertising for them... I'm not sending the wings back.
I probably shouldn't be so angry, but someone's already pissed me off today and I'm venting.

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
I just got one this week as well. I haven't found much on RCU about this plane either. I had the H9 120 edge and loved it. Actually, every H9 plane I have flown has been a good flier. I just hope this plane is as good as the review in MAN. I plan on a DA 100 and 8411/8611 servos. I purchased the graphics package from Brad at [link=http://www.badbradgraphics.8k.com/]badbradgraphics.com[/link] and it will look good. He said his edge flew about 4x late fall and it was good. But, I am surprised that not many people here are talking about it. I just hope that beacuse it was a late fall release, not many people jumped on it. We'll see

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
Is this plane going to be good for 3d aerobatics with a GT-80 twin? I think so cause it's predrilled for it.
Don't you guys think this plane is a little expensive for it's size? For 100$ more I can get a Da100 with an extra 330L? Is it exeptional quality or just okay? I meen i would save the 100$ for a bigger plane.
If you are wondering where I can get DA100 and the extra 330L it's at plane plus.
Thanks

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
Im not sure what your talking about, you can't get just a da100 for $100 more than this ARF let alone the 100 and an airframe.
Planes plus sells just the DA100 for $1150.00

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
here's a link:
http://www.planesplus.com/Products/Aerobatic/extra.htm
the one on the right it says "34% with DA 100 Retail value $1949.95 only 1789.95"
I am canadian so my monney is canadian. The hanger 9 edge 540 is 1100$ and the zenoah gt-80 is 1000$. So I just went to see how much is 1790$ is canadian and it's 2200$. So it is only 100$ more. Odd causei do agree with you i thought i was just a good quality plane but no it comes with the engine too.
Also suprised me just like you

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
I thought what you were saying was that you could buy the Extra and a DA 100 for only $100 more than the Hanger 9 ARF by itself. The extra they are selling is only $50 cheaper than the Hanger 9 ARF, they sell it for $799, the Hanger 9 Edge is $850 so I wouldn't really say its much more expensive in others in this size. They have that combo deal though which seems like a great deal and your right, that one is about $100 more than if you bought the hanger 9 Edge and the GT80. The Hanger 9 Edge might be lighter also.
