Hey Roberto,
I'll be away for a week and won't be able to keep up with your thread. I wish you the best of luck on your maiden flight. I hope your girl friend enjoys flying her new plane.

figueroa, great friend, thank's for wishes, and girlfriend say the same....

kevin, some guys here at RCUniverse insperation me, they are too much better builders, here are so good people that share their knowledge; look at Composite thread, and pay attention to Mike James work, it's amazing, and look at their web page... the best.

The electronic ignition is like magic, make the iddle soft and consistent, less shake.... beautiful.

Here are real numbers for iddle: 1250 RPM

Engine can iddle less RPM, at point you can see prop, but engine is working too much when transition to midrange and take their time, that's why I set to 1250; may be 1500 will be better at fly....

Since you must set screws with engine off, every little turn movement make big diferences.... less than 1/16 turn and it change....

Transition to midrange is now clean, perfect....

this are midrange RPM....

Look the smooth the engine run, tachometer can easy show RPM without jump too much...

Set high to max....

7860 RPM, that was max.... too lean.... but it's a new engine, so may be a little rich will be better, and after break in I can go for more RPM if needed....

All numbers was:

Mejzlik 22x10
- Iddle 1250 RPM
- Max 7860 RPM

Dynatrust 22x10 square tip
- Iddle 1250 RPM
- Max 7500 RPM

I saw this:

Mejzlik is lighter prop, transition and fast stick movement are instantaneous; less air behind prop at iddle 1250 RPM

Dynatrust is a little heavy than Mejzlik, transition and fast stick movement are almost instantaneous, iddle can be sostain better at less than 1000 RPM; I believe due to more inercia (heavy prop); more air behind prop at iddle 1250 RPM

Big day will be next saturday or sunday, so this week is time for locktite every screw, gap seal, make minor adjustements, final buffing and ready....

Will post first fly pic's and hope video too, keep in channel

And here are the little monster in action....

Some thin oil help for soft movement.....

Forget to say, I only use the pushrod's black tube, not the yellow part... this fit excelent to plastic black screw

Some idea about throws? help me decide, while I'll be reading some threads about this size planes and their throws...

SATURDAY REPORT

Start throws was:

Ail 15 degrees up and down
Elev 20 degrees up and down
Rud 30 degrees both sides

Saturday morning, travel to fly field, airplane RTF less canopy and gasoline....

Radio's range with engine off: 45 meter (about 147 ft)

Start engine, let it warm about 3 minutes at iddle, check transition and it is good; other way, high is very rich....

Get out belly and set high.... It take about 45 minutes to get a good high and recheck low needle..... tachometer was forget at home... ooops...

When engine was done, time to verify radio's range with engine on.....

Range was very poor at low and high, about 15 meter (49 ft), something is wrong....

After first 15 minutes, some extrange noise is present.... turn engine off, verify.... ¡¡¡ engine screws was turn out some!!!!

OK, I'll try locktite it (blue) ..... any sugestion?

Rudder servo glitches all the time... with radio 1 meter distance too....

All day trying to get clean radio signal.... all failed.....ok, just for relax, take time to 20oz tank at medium to high throttle without rudder servo.... time was 20 minutes.....that is 15 minutes per fly and safe landing....

Rest of time was for fly other planes and get fun and relax; Extra is now at home to verify what was wrong....

Girlfriend finish bags only for both wing and one stab... this week will finish all (that's she say)

That was my saturday report, I'll try to fix all errors and show you what happend.....

More tomorrow....

What a shame about your problems. I've been looking forward to hearing about the maiden flight. It is such a great looking model and alot of time and effort has gone into make sure you find the problem before you fly.

Roberto,
Sorry to here about your range problems at the flying field. I am sure once you get a chance to go over the electronics you will solve the problem. I am glad you did a thorough preflight before your maiden. The plane looks great keep up the good work. You need to start on a new project real soon . I have really enjoyed your thread and look forward to the daily posts and photos. I am ready to start working on my project again. Our vacation was great but I missed building and flying.

Thank's friends, I know you are with me, and that really count....

Right now I'm working on some electronics improvements to get the trouble out... I want to fly it next weekend....

I'll post here what the problem was, and how to correct; many other pilots at field sugest many ways; I'll try sistematics for localice real problem....

You know, some say "Try PCM"... I don't want to hide the problem....I want to identify the problem.....

I'm reading too much posts here about glitching and how to get it off....

Figueroa, there are 3 projects on the way:

- Extra 300 (mine different scheme)
- Patriot 3D (composites)
- Typhoon 2000 (composites)

Steps to follow are:

- Go to airfield with 2 or 3 Rx, Tx and crystals
- test Rx with throttle servo only and 4.8 battery pack (outside plane)
- install Rx and test again only throttle servo with engine off
- Test the same with engine on at diferent RPM
- If all fine conect one surface every time and test engine off and on
- At this point, the failure must be localized... (hope)
- Fix the failure (I must to carry all the work shop to field he he he)
- Make short range test with antena down and up from 0 to 100 ft aprox...
- Make long range test at 1500 to 2000 ft antena up

What you suggest?
