Default Planes Plus 2.6M X-treme Composite Edge 540T?

Anyone have any info on Planes Plus kits?
Thinking about the 2.6m X-treme composite Edge 540T with a DA-100
http://www.planesplus.com/Products/A...tremeEdge.html
How well built?
How do they fly?
How much weight?
What comes with the kit?

It kind of looks like the airwild edge. Got any inside photos?

Joe,
No inside photos, just these pics from the Planes Plus web site.
The Air Wild Edge is a little bigger I believe.

This plane does not look anything like an extra or an airwild edge. This is the most scale composite 540T out there. I talked to Carla on these and she said they are simply amazing in person. The Video is pretty sweet too.

I don't have much info on the kits but I will say they are not made as the same place as Comp Arf. The construction is the same however. These look like they will be awesome. I am thinking of getting one and putting a ZDZ 80 on a pipe in it for low weight and good power.

I just got a E-mail from Carla and she'll be sending me a cd with construction pics.
I believe that a home for my new DA-100 maybe coming soon!
I do like what I've seen so far.

Prices range from $940 for the single color, to $1390 for the Fantasy trim scheme shown in the pics above.

Found the manufacture site, http://www.xtremecomposite.com Not much more info there, but some there are some pics you can download of the assembly of the edge. The pictures of the edge in the fantasy scheme are of higher quality here too. I was going to order a white one, but after seeing these pics of the fantasy this has got to be the one. I will post some high res pics of my plane when I receive it. Going try try for an ultralite set-up, ZDZ80 single with only 5 Hitec 5955 servos ( 333 oz @ 6.0v), sinlge lipoly. Trying to get confirmation that I can run these servos unregulated (7.2 400oz) as originally advertised.

Well, the ailerons make the same whistle that the comp arf planes do.

Here's a couple links to some build pics of the Edge. I got mine a month ago, but haven't done much work on it for a while. Seen one fly a few weeks back at a show here in Japan. The current Japanese F3A champion put her thru the paces. Seems it going to be a great flying plane.

J3D, have you seen the OTOP fly? These planes are made in the same country as comp-arf. Do you think comp-arf is making them?

I haven't seen the OTOP fly, only the Edge. These are made by a different company then Comp-Arf. I think there is a lot of startup companies in Thailand following their lead thou.

The HS-5955's have never been advertised with specifications @ 7.4V. The Robot servo HSR-5995 in robot applications is spec'd at 7.4V, however this application is entirely different than model airplanes. Hitec does not recommend aircraft utiilizing the elevated voltages with either servo.

Mr Glavin,

Has there been confirmation that the 5955 can now be programmed with my ver 1.4 programmer?

Mr Glavin,

Has there been confirmation that the 5955 can now be programmed with my ver 1.4 programmer?
Absolutely! As long as the programmer has v1.04 software it's all good.

Hey Flier,

I have the demo model that was showed in Toledo and we flew it at Joe Nall. This plane is down right awesome, the flying weight is 25.8 lbs, I am using an old style 3W 100 that flat halls it around. I have it set up for flying IMAC. I am using Futaba 9350 all the way aroung except for the rudder and I am using the Hitec 5735. The construction is like the Fiberclassic models, live hinges on the aileron, rod hinges on all other surfaces, the canopy frame is already mounted ready for the canopy.

The flight values are very tight, it tracks on rails and is very smooth, well balanced and little mixing. The finish is painted and doesn't show wear like wood framed plane after one season of flying. Great Model, well worth the money.

I ordered this plane a few days ago. I want to start by saying how great the customer support is with Planes Plus. Carla has been awesome. It came in today and unfortunately it had some freight damage. She already sent me out a replacement plane before I even had a chance to send the original back. Very accommodating.

I had a Composite Arf extra 2.6 prior to this plane. It was an incredible plane. Unfortunately I lost it due to a radio problem I still havent been able to figure out. The reason I went to the Extreme Composite Edge was that I felt that the wing tube was a better deal and that it was an updated version of the Comp arf from a different company. When the plane arrived, I was very happy with the quality. The patent laws in Thailand must be pretty weak because I would swear it was manufactured by the same company. Minor differences only. I will get my new plane in a couple of days and plan on getting it in the air quickly so I will give a flight report at a later date. Only then will I be able to let you know if my leap of faith payed off. Something tells me it is going to be good.

I am also pleased with the quality of the plane. The fuselage seams are are very small. It could be possible to start building this plane on monday and fly it on saturday, just working a couple hours a day, with one day dedicated to the canopy/hatch installation. I've probably worked on mine for 6 hours total and only have the wings ,engine installation and canopy left to finish. Been held up do to a pinched nerve in my neck that is affecting my right arm or would have had mine in the air already. Whats nice is they already have the baffle cut out for you if you are going to use a DA100. Check my website, just posted a diagram for the rudder horn.

Does this thing have provisions for canisters?? And with the DA and 3W being different lengths, do you have to use the special spinner when using a 3W like the Comp-ARF's??? Sweet looking plane!!! Gotta get one soon.

Just found out that the owner of Xtreme composites use to work for Comp-arf. Another funny thing is the currenty owner of Comp-arf hates Edges, and will never produce one.
