Dangit you had to post that link and make me see those CF pants.. Mmmm CF
You're talking about the smaller arm? It say's that it can be used with 0, 3/8's, or 1/4 inch offset.. I assume that you just order the offset you want and bolt it up? What goes underneath it? I see 4 bolts, what are they bolting into?

The fiberglass and carbon servo arms connect to a metal servo wheel, which connect to the servo. Below is a pic of my final setup, with metal servo wheel.
Precision Aerobatics doesn't give the complete specs on those arms on that web page, so you might want to contact them. Best bet would be if you could drill your own holes for the pull-pull attachment to the servo arm. That way you could match the offset you need for your rudder control horn offset from the hinge line. I ended up with a 3-1/2 inch wide arm (same as the width of the rudder control horns), and a 0.42 inch offest, and since you have the same plane and control horns, yours should be pretty much the same. I have zero slack at full deflection. I choose an offset that yielded cables just a hair looser at full deflection than at center (didn't want to inadvertantly induce additional, possibly damaging, tension).
There's an article in this month's Fly RC magazine about a 35% Giles from Aviation Models (which happens to have almost EXACTLY the same covering as the Planes Plus version of our Extra), and they supply the Giles with a metal rudder servo arm that meets the criteria we are discussing. I really like that feature.....
It's also interesting that they're flying that 35% Giles, and it looks like it was designed for, one rudder servo..... Different designs of course have different flying characteristics, but this got me to thinking that I have plenty of models that will do knife edge loops until the cows come home, using a rudder servo with considerably less torque than the overall model weight..... This is no doubt due to the leverage involved with the distance from the rudder to the center of gravity.
There's a good article about Ackerman rotary to linear differential here;

RE: Stay tuned, Extreme Aircraft Extra 300 on the way
Is this over kill for the PP 34% Extra?
two 5595 on ea wing
two 5595 on the rudder
one 5595 on ea elev
That is my current setup but I am wondering if I could reduce it to 1 5595 in ea wing and rudder.
Thanks
Andrew

Negatory budgetdude. I just got the new receiver and got it installed late last week, and conditions since then have been far from prime for a maiden of this magnitude
That said, folks should take all my input about this bird with a grain of salt

Kat I am looking forward to hearing what happens when you throw the switch. Thaflyer I think I am getting some rudder blowback on 2 5945's on a 1 roll roller. You could be set if your next plane might be a 40.

RE: Stay tuned, Extreme Aircraft Extra 300 on the way
I have one of two of (that I know of) the PP 38% extras that made it to the states. And Im scratch building another 38-39% extra from some Danny Snyder plans. I'm planning on selling one of the two to get me started on a da-150. Anyone interested? The PP 38% has the same scheme as the PP 27%.
BD, are you running a 4.8 or 6v system on the 5945? If it is the 6V then it sounds like I need to stick with the 2 5955's. What about the wings? If I use one 5955 on the wings, then I am haveing a hard time figuring out which servo bay to put it in. Running a 6v system of course.
Thanks

WOOHOOO! Just ordered EVERYTHING (almost) to finish my Extra!! The only things I didn't get are a spinner, Because I can live without one.. And a Fuel dot, because the only alum. one besides DA is Rocket City, and they're out of stock at Airwild.. But It's OK cause I can live without it too!

Well since I'll be about ready for my maiden flight here with-in the next couple of weeks I hope, it's time to figure out what to expect of this thing.. Anything I should do or shouldn't do as far as radio programming? Exponential? Rates? CG? How should I be attempting to fly this bird, speed wise? As in where does it groove along the best for my first few flights? You know all that nervous first flight prep.
Gotta keep this thread goin!!!!

RE: Stay tuned, Extreme Aircraft Extra 300 on the way
There's not much to worry about with this plane, I'm really happy with how it flies. For the maiden flight I had the CG right at 8" back at the fuselage, and it flew good and settled in for really easy landings. For the throws I pretty much just maxed out the throws for high rate and cut them in half for low rates. On expo I usually am at 45-50% on high rate and 35% on low rate. The plane has such a wide flight envelope just fly it how you fell comfortable and you should have any problems. After a dozen flights the only thing I have run across is on the last flight covering on one of the wings started comming off in flight. I was able to land it before it got to any of the open ribs, but most of the leading edge had come off. Just make sure you iron the whole plane and that every thing else is secured well and you shouldn't have any problems with this plane, Other than the covering I am really pleased with the plane.

Ice it will be the easiest plane you have ever flown. There were 3 of these things at the columbus IMAC, 1 in Unlim and 2 sportsman.

Anyone have one they can check the downthrust on the engine. I had to rework my firewall a bit and didn't measure mine first. Seems like the stock one was set at 2 degrees of upthrust which sounds odd....just wanna double check.

RE: Stay tuned, Extreme Aircraft Extra 300 on the way
Maiden my Planes Plus 34% Extra this weekend. Nice plane but she had a few tendencies that I will have to work around.
She flew a little nose heavy with a 3w-100 but nothing I can't fix with some extensions battery movement. It also has a unappealing wing rock in harrier and it has a light snap on 3/4 elevator that could get to be a problem. Going to try a couple of DSF fins on the wing tips to see if that help the wing rocking. Will have to get the CG where I want it before I can evaluate the rest. And this thing hovers like you would not believe!
Anybody else seeing the same wing rocking?

Well I got my 3W fired up and running. I have to replace the foward fuel line due to an air leak somewhere causing bubbles to the carb.. Other than that the 106cs is running awesome. Then I need to tighten my pull-pull cables and balance her. Balance should be 8 inched right? And the plane should be rightside up?

I think a 300S because it has a single seat canopy, and a low wing. Look how long it is though, more like a 2M pattern ship than an extra.

I would be real careful buying anything from PLANES PLUS - CARLA KANAK
She has my $1,400 and unfortunately,
a) Did NOT DELIVER the plane she sold me at the Toledo Show
b) has not refunded my $$ as promised on April 16th
c) does not respond to e-mails or phone calls
Happy flying

RE: Stay tuned, Extreme Aircraft Extra 300 on the way
Sorry to here that George, However there are plenty of people on this forum who have their planes. As of late there has been several threads on the planes plus topic, on both sites I visit. I believe in every one of those threads there's been some kind of mention of a family crisis. Hopefully she'll come through for you.
Now, I got everything working, running properly.. Just need to get it balanced.. The point I'm shooting for is just foward of 8 inches? Do I balance it upright or inverted? Thanks

Welp she balances right at 8 inches! The plane came out at 26.5lbs Soaking wet (32 oz. tank)! I fired up the 3W just long enough to get a range check and get it tuned for a good transition. It all went well but it's still failing the range check. I get to like 0 ft antennae down and thats about it.
