Range check with the engine on and off. Might find the problem there.

I'm sorry ment that 40 feet! Woops! I get clear across the lawn with out even a hint of problem engine off. Yester day when the ignition was switched on the rudder glitched. I have some hope I re routed my antennae out the tap and attatche it to the vert stab. Plus today i stumbled across something, dad mentioned when we had our alarm system installed they had to go through several controllers and keypads do to some sort of interference. Finally they couldn't even get a second keypad to work! Sounds odd but now I'm hopeful, I plan to take it to the field this evening to retry.

My set-up:

3W 106CS
Johnson Smoke Mufflers
Hitec 5645's on the corners,
Hitec 5955TG on rudder
Fromeco 4800 on reciever
Fromeco 2400 on ign
NX G3 28X10 (no spinner)
Dubro 32oz at the back of the cannister tunnel, back of tank is uder wing tube.

How it came out 26.5# and balanced I have absolutly no clue, I need to recheck my figures

Here is a article that gives good gas engine range testing peramiters.

Welp she flies!!! After multiple range checks and taxi practice I eased the throttle up and of she came. Needed 1 click of up trim for straight and level. Flew it around several circuits and started approaches. Then the talked me through one that was perfect so I set her down. And that was all I could handle for one day! But I got my first GS flight in!

hey guys,

I lost a wheel pant today while practicing. does anybody have an extra set that they would part with? I know quite a few have not even installed thiers, if you still have them I would love to have them even if they are the blue set from the PP version.

thanks a ton

Thanks Katman, Kilt comment aside

Here's a couple pics of her naked during a taxi test the day before maiden. I planned to fly today, but it was looking like rain, maybe tomorrow!

Congrats on the maiden! My EA Extra was my first gasser as well and i was kinda nervous when i test flew mine. The motor was super rich (Brand new DA100) and it was quite nose heavy, but all went well and it's still in one piece with no structural issues 35 flights later...knock on wood. I am having a problem with my covering peeling off though, even after going over the entire thing with an iron...apparently i didn't put enough heat into it the first time. Do you have any problems with your covering peeling off? My wheels also seized to my axles so i had to take the wheel off, clean the axle and put some grease on it.

Yep my wheels sezied up on me also (7th flight). And yes my covering is peeling on my PP Extra.

I have three batterys behind the canopy to balance with out a spinner. I added a spinner last night so I have a feeling I will have to balance again. Every thing else is going good. I still not sure about the wing bolt method.

I went over my EA extra with a really hot iron and I still had the covering blow off one of the wings in flight. Luckily I was setting up for a landing when it happened and the cover never made it back to the open bays. So I have recovered the leading edge of my wings, unfortanately I couldn't get an exact match on the color. But I figure I'll end up recovering all of it eventually.

I haven't had any issues yet with the covering peeling off, and I went over both wheels and axles with 3 in 1 oil before first taxi tests, and again last night. So hopefully I won't have that problem today. I plan on heading for the field in a bit! Mine's pretty elevator sensitive, I can't remember my expo. right off hand, but I guess I'll increase it. It shouldn't be tailheavy in the least.

Cheers

Hey guys,

I put 5 more flights on my new Extra 300L this evening! I finally tried some stuf with it. Since it's maiden was only Sunday at mayfield, today made my 2-6th flights. On the first flight, I got up there, then tried a roll. WOW insanely axial and it stopped when I told it to. So having gained a little more confidence, I took it up and did a hammerhead, vertical is easily unlimited at 1/2 throttle! And hammerheads whip around on high rate rudder enough to turn back into it's original path!. The next flight I did he stall test, Idle, full up on high rate. Mushed along for some time, then starts sinking slowly, so I added aileron and rudder to the mix, and voi-la, spin! I flew is some more, and did snaps, spins, 4 point rolls(beautiful, no correction necessary for a faster one!) and some other things like knife edge. I found I can cruise around at 0-1/2 throttle, with occasional bursts t full for 15 minutes, and still have well over 1/2 tank left. Still working on landings, Hard to get used to the distance and speed! Plus it just wants to keep flying! I did get it down on my first try midfield on my last flight. Anywho, I'm excited! Had to tall someone!! Here's a few pictures!

My Camera Cannot Zoom enough to get good pics beyond the width of the runway[:'(]

Any more flights ice man. I have about 100+ so far with no real issues. what does your plane do when you stall at a low angle of attack. like when you enter an IMAC spin. All I have seen break hard right.

My PP version breaks softly to the left but very controllable. I've got about 100 flights or so on mine.
I did a tail touch for the old guys in the club this week, some have never seen it done before. Many of them think it's stupid cause airplanes aren't supposed to do that and say I'm going to crash doing it but why have these planes if you can't fly them like you stole them. Nice picts Ramz

Mine stalls at the wing root which leaves the ailerons fully effective. It just makes a spin the has to enter from the left for a crssbox manuever a littlt more sporty. This plane really does unloaded snaps well. You can get away with some really complicated snap combo's.

The aircraft we are referencing is a Extreme Aircraft 106" Extra 300. Its a little bigger than the EF extra. Check out the electric section for for your motor choice.

Ice if you wanna do a structural test try this crazy tumble out. Start a low high speed pass on 3d rates and pull up to a 45, at about 25 feet start a high spped roll to the left and Anyone else flying thiers at the chicago-land cup.

Default RE: Stay tuned, Extreme Aircraft Extra 300 on the way

Ok guys. 50 Flights on the Extra Now. Super happy with it, almost no KE coupling, not enough to try and mix out! Flies awesome IMAC and 3D. Good Rollers, and very stable stall! Nice walls and parchutes, HA KE is a thing of beauty, and my new favorite manuever is a high speed KE snap to KE, then snap to level. Anywho, I do have one complaint. It rocks bad in a harrier. Bad enough that it takes ailerons and rudder to correct and you'd better be on your toes. Maybe it has a slightly nose heavy CG? Also flat spins are fairly flat but a little nose down, farther supporting my theory. It's fine inverted cause that huge rudder has clean air.

BTW if anyone was interested, te 106 Comp is insane! I have like 4 gallons through it and it's insane! The prop is a NX G3 28X10 and the 106 rips is on the ground and it's insanely loud in the air! I tried a friends MENZS 27X10 but I didn't like it. The NX pulls like a tractor and it was really hard to get used to the MENZ. The throttle was a little quicker responding, but I had to mantain higher RPMS for the same effect. You guys really need to try out the NX G3 series. Beautiful props.

I think the plane will be in ST Louis in September (16th and 17th I think) If any one wants a hand at the sticks. And I know for sure it will be In Louisvile this friday and Saturday. I don't know that I'll get to fly since I'm there for a "Make a Wish Foundation Convention" but maybe we can try to get to a close field if anyone knows of any

Ice have you had to tweak your thrust angle at all. I have 1 extra shim of right that is about 1/16" thick.

Andy

What motivated you to put the shims in?

My PP rocks pretty bad in a harrier. I've been saying I need to add some FSGs to the tips like the new Funtanas have.

I am also looking for a new canopy if anyone can help. I thought I heard someone say Planes Plus was evicted.
