I am fortunate to have the full fiberglass cowl, fuse and tail sections. I also have the obiechi wood foam core wings ( I have never done foam cores before) So I bought the full wood kit so I can use a built up wing and horz stabs.

I just got off the phone with Wendell - nice guy - hi put an 8.0 Cube inch in his for racing!! He said it was clocked well over 200 MPH!! He has since then put in a ZDZ 80 and I think one other too . I have begun to look at the DA-100 size just to have the spare room. A da is a 6.0 CI. The plane calls for a 3.0 and up for the IV the ES calls out up to 6 and past I think,

Cheers.

Let's keep the thread alive.
I would like to see how you attach the wings ... ie, tubes, wood .... etc.
I haven't looked at the wing plans yet....I would like to put a set of retracts that I have from Dave Platt's spitfire in them. I don't know if they will hold up....I'll contact Dave and see.
My cowl isn't a good fit. My kit is old and maybe they have modified it some. I'll just have to make do and sand the firewall down so that it fits better. It is too snug. No room for glassing under it. Not even with .06 glass.........Ron

I haven't done anything.....found a girl friend.....You know how that goes......I'm 68 and she is 63 and quite a cutie.
She wants to learn to fly and I think she is serious about it.
I'm also rebuilding 3 planes that were in the trash can...Should be done with them in a couple of weeks.
I call them ADF aircraft........already did fly.
As winter approaches I will get back on the lancair.

Well not a lot of flying this year for me, but I hope to get some in before the snow comes down. I have the Fiberglass fuse out on the building board and I am kinda scratching my head on where to start.

I'll post some pics of the fuse and all

ORIGINAL: geebee e

I have ordered the plans from Hostetler and fiberglass fuselage, cowling and windscreen+windows from Fiberglass Specialties as well.
But does anyone know a reliable source for quality gear/retract for the IV model?
Also searching for photos of the Reno Racer #9 N805L Lancair IV. Anyone who can upload some images?
Thanks in advance.

Have you started or finished your build yet?

Sorry....I'm tired......worked on the nose gear for about 15 hours in the last 3 days....finally epoxied it into place an hour or so ago.
I'll have to add more epoxy after this batch sets. ............ Ron.
