1/4 Scale Fokker D7 balance point???
I have a 1/4 scale Fokker D7 that I bought at auction a couple years ago.
It's 80" wingspan (top wing) and 14 1/2" cord. Will probably be about 17 lbs. if I don't need any nose weight.
Planning on a Saito 180 single cyl. with a 20-6 prop.
Don't know who's kit it is or if it's scratch built.
My problem is I don't have any idea where the balance point is.
Any help greatly appreciated.

My dear von Delby . . .
Been searching through several Websites concerning CG Calculations - what a rats nest, particularly concerning biplanes!
Probably the best information comes from the Balsa USA Website concerning their D.VII.
It's Top Wing is 88", Lower Wing is 69" - just slightly larger than yours.
They recommend the CG at 5" back from the leading edge of the Top Wing.
My edgjumacated guess would be to start with the CG somewhere between 4 1/2" to 4 3/4" back from the LE of the Top Wing, and go from there. That should be a conservative enough measurement to see how it feels in the air, and then adjust if it feels too nose heavy.
I'll try to give you a call some time this weekend.

I also have a fokker d7 with a 78 inch wingspan and I have the same problem. I don't know who made the kit or if it is scratch built but I do know that it is about 30 yrs. old. I also would like to know where the balance point is. If anyone knows please e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks Dale

Posting pics of the plane might be able to tip off some guys out in the crowd..It would be much nicer for you to get the balance from the plans in someones collection.
I think WinterHawke is on the right track if you can't find info, many MANY wings are designed so the CG is right on the spar..this however ISN"T always the case.
