Default H9 33% Edge 540 or Extra 330?

Greetings,
I am trying to decide between the two......Is there any difference in the flight performance? I know the Extra is projected at about a pound heavier. Has anyone flown both?
Thanks

My recommendation would be to look closely at the Wild Hare planes.

These two planes should fly differently, so what are you looking for?

If they fly as well as my 33% H9 Cap, then build it KISS and have a ball! My Cap came out at 22lbs.

I am actually leaning towards flying IMAC......I basically just like flying around doing aerobatics, and a bit of 3-D....I am not looking at any other planes at this point because I work part-time at a hobby shop, and actually have both planes in my living room at the moment.
I have been told that the Edge is more suited for 3-D, and the Extra would be a bit more precise.
Thanks guys.........

that is correct... Edges are OK, but they do not fly IMAC near as well as others..the straight leading edge is nice for 3D and the stall rate, but an issue with IMAC

I Have the H9 33% EDGE 540 with a DA-100 for power and with a Slimline exhaust. I love this plane. I have over 100 flights on it and I have been flying it in competition this last year in IMAC. Also it's just fun all around plane to fly on the week ends. I just wish I flew as well as this plane fly's.[img][/img]

i was involved in imac competition as a competitor, cd, and judge for many years, and i can't remember anyone ever making a statement that an edge was better 3D plane than the extra, and the extra was better for precision. the closest was a conversation i had with rocco from aeroworks, right after i flew doug gearman's 39% edge and rocco's former 37% toc extra - that the edge was the better airplane in the lower classes, in advanced it was a toss up, and in unlimited, the snaps favored an extra. still, that didn't keep edges out of the TOC, bill hempel placed a respectable 10th in his first year at the TOC flying a flat stabbed 40% edge and several pilots flew carden edges. certainly, as a judge i never deducted points because i thought the pilot was flying the "wrong" plane. personally, i think the edge is the best entry level into imac, as the stability of the straight leading edge makes the airplane very predictable at low speeds. that being said, i really dont' think you can go wrong with either plane, but make the choice for the right reasons.

While both planes are good performers, I have found that it is easier to fly a straight line with an extra compared to an edge. I have owned both and this is what I have found to be true. Spins seem to be more predictable with the edge because you can slow it down a lot more before is stalls.
Remember, this is just MY opinion from MY experence
