Default Got Gas Sport for Ryobi 31cc

Is there anyone else out there in RCU Land who is building a Got Gas Sport? This airplane is designed specifically for the Ryobi 31cc engines. www.gotgasradiocontrol.com

I've got mine all framed up, almost ready to cover. 'Hope I'm not the only one onto this kit. []

Edwin, there's a parenthesis that latched on to the tail end of the link. Eliminate it and you're there.

Best,

Ahh yes, pay attention Edwin. Looks like it could be fun. Theres lots of designs that are good for the ryobi. I used a Bandito Grande for mine. Pretty spirited at 14lbs, until if flew thru the power lines.

A brief update: After several distractions, the Sport is finally completely framed up! Now for selecting a covering scheme.[X(] The kit was built essentially "stock"; it went together real easy; no mods. Since I prefer two-piece wings, this kit earned points from the gitgo. Should come out around 12.5 lbs; we'll see.

Happy Holidays!!

After a ten-month delay for other projects, flying, and other excuses, the Sport is finally getting finished. I have to fab a cowl, do the covering, and she’s done.

Hi Guys,

Nice to see there’s still interest in the Got Gas Sport and Ryobi engine.

edge540…your Sport looks to be mostly stock…and sure looks nice! I like the way the cowl looks…you did a fine job.

I’ll try to get some pix of mine, but I have yet to install the cowl. Been busy on other planes. (Well, that’s my fish story for today!!) BTW, I also built the Got Gas Trainer, which you can see on Cory’s website. I think he still has it posted. The Trainer is an awesome “big bird.” Flies like a giant, powered sailplane. Nimble, but not much of a 3-D bird!

Edge,

The Sport is a joy to fly...no bad habits. Cory's design is near perfect. Like his Trainer, the Sport flies well right from the building table. However, I just had to add a few minor details (I'm know for doing this!!!), one of such is pattern-style incidence adjusters on the wing panels. The Sport is not for "pattern-style" flying, but the adjusters are nice for tweaking. As flying progesses, I'll get her dialed in, but for the average sport flyer the stock design is fine. Stay tuned...I'll try to post some pix soon.

I would love to see more on this plane and your upgrades. I have been getting back in to RC building / flying after several years away. Currently working on a .15 glow powered glider/trainer with my son. I am already thinking about my next build project and always wanted a larger sized aerobatic plane. I have 2 or 3 old Ryobi 31cc trimmers collecting dust in the garage and Ilove the idea of putting together air motor conversion with one of these.
