hanger 9 260 engine question
I really want to purchase a hanger 9 extra 260 but need suggestions on an engine. Vertical pull-out of a hover is a MUST!! Will a BME 50cc be sufficient?
thanks,
Brian

Any decent 40 will do it - my 26 on a pipe will do it -not fast but a nice positive vertical
I can't see why anyone goes over 13 lbs on this model mine is 11.5lbs

My first place engine is some what heavy and mine weighs 15 pounds. It's heavy but still hovers with plenty of power to spare. I bought it used this way. I would have built it lighter myself.

Mr. Hanson,
I have been thinking about this plane for awhile, and I agree totally on the weight that it should be built at. I think it is funny how hard we had to work to get our 72" planes to come out at 12lbs. Now we can build a bigger, lighter plane cheaper and easier. You got to love good wood selections and building practices.

Moki 2.10, around $200 less than DA, pulls hard, hover at just a shade over 1/2. Runs on 0% nitro, starts 1 flip, swings 20x10 at 7400. plane weighs 13.5lbs.
Might try the DP blue head 2.10 same motor, runs on 15%

NEVER try and run the DP Blue head at 15% after months of success with 5% in my DP blue head 210 I re-tuned for 15% and the engine locked-up after 4 minutes of flight.

They will work with more nitro- You may have to raise head a couple of gaskets worth- I like the way they run on more nitro but as with any glo engine --ya gotta match compression with prop load . The Moki or any glow engine responds same way - Rossi- OS/ ST etc.. been ther -- frankly any decent 40ish gasser is a good choice
you can do it at 13 lbs or less.
even a good 35 gasser is fine. cept most are heavy an old BME44 or that type or a Brison etc- something 2.8 lbs
In new engines that would be the ZDZ40 or a Evolution 45 GX or MVVS same engine --

RE: hanger 9 260 engine question
i am just concerned about being able to pull out of a hover with plenty of power. If the evolution 45 will do it i'll go with that.
