I am very happy with the JXF props, I have a 22 X 8 on my 30% Yak with a ZDZ - 50, also using the 22 X 10 on my DA-50. Anyone else using JFX props?

I just bought a JFX 22x8 for my ZDZ 50 NG, haven't run it yet. What RPM's are you turning on your ZDZ 50/JFX 22x8 combo? Is it a 50 NG?

Yes it is a ZDZ 50- NG, I am turning 7400 RPM's but the engine is new. I am going to run the 22 X 8 for about 5 gal of gas then switch to a 22 X 8.

Wow that's good RPM's. That's gotta be loud.

You mean switch to a 22x10 after 5 gallons? Or 23x8?

Jon,

We can try several at the upcoming Fayetteville event to see what works for your particular setup if you want.

I just ordered a 27B for my BME115 on a 25lb. QQ Yak. You guys have me worried about it not being enough prop. I will be flying 3D and IMAC style flying. I am now ripping a 28x10 Bolly with 3 gallons of fuel through the BME. Should I send it back for a 27C or hold out for a 28?

dbcaster, none of the vess 27" props are enough IMO. I was running a prototype 28A for a while and it was pretty darn good, but still very loud. My favorite prop for the 115 is a PT 28x10, great prop.

flyinrazrback,
Thanks for that, that prop was recommended by the Robert and the guys at DA. I will see if I can send it back to DA for a different one.

DB, the PT 28x10 pulls hard, but it will only rip a smidge, it is very quiet for how good of performance you get out of it. I would use it until you can get a Vess 28A. The 28A is a great 3D prop, but loud. A 28B would probably be a good imac prop. I would like to try one of those new Mejzlik 27x12 thin blades, I bet that would be a great imac prop as well depending on how loud it is.

Most people use the 22 or 23 inch props for 50cc motors like the DA or 3W. Since the Evo 58 has more displacement, I would assume that you would require more prop load to absorb the power. So, instead of using a 23A like you would on a DA/3W, maybe you should start with a 23B and then adjust as you understand the engine power a little more.

I hope this helps!

Mr Vess:

Here's my case, I have an Aeroworks 50cc Yak. I have to fly it with a 80cc 3W engine as my flying field is at 8300 ft asl (Andes mountains in south america). I have been using 26x10 props and they have been pulling the aircraft fine. Just bought a Vess 26A but have not tested it yet (will report results as soon as I fly it). My question is, since I read in forums Vess props load the engine heavier than other props, what would be my correctly sized Vess prop for this engine/aircraft combination at this altitude?

My tests results are very positive eventhough not very scientific . I had the oprtunity to fly a PT carbon fiber prop right before I flew with my 26A vess. It does compare in pull and 3D performace very closely. Speed and upward lift feel pretty much the same. The aircraft felt much more predictable and responsive with a much more positive inmediate thrust when throttle was applied.

Based on this the Vess prop is clearly by far a much higher value than the carbon fiber prop I used. I just bought two more to have in my stock as spare units.

Obviously would like to know if 26B or different diameter would work better (however next size down is 23", which won`t apply to my engine), but for the time being and given the asl altitude we fly here, I believe 26A is the right choice.

You will need to disclose what engine / tuned pipe or stock muffs, and what is the weight range of the aircraft.

I tried Vess 22B on my DA50/Double Vision, was using TBM 23X8. What a huge increase in R's, went from 7100 to almost 7700, too much IMO plus I had to lean out the low end due to very light prop load. The tips are very thin, can bend them by finger pressure alone. My engine started sagging & almost quit during inverted & HA KE stuff so I ended up richening both L & H a tad, I'm living with the "4-stroking" for now but plan on getting a 23B or 22C. I wish Vess would publish the pitch in "standard" numbers to compare with. Its likely they are making more $$ because you end up buying more than one prop once you discover the loading. I think the 22A must be equivilent to a 22X6, 22B= 22X8 and 22C= 22X10, just my humble opinion.

MM,

You are somewhat correct. Most of us Vess Prop users kinda know what to run with what engine combo. Most DA 50 with stoclk exhaust 22B, tuned pipe or cans - 23B, If you live in higher altitudes, most folk change to the 'A' props. But, just like any new prop you are experimenting with, you will have a few props, unless you do some homework, or ask on these threads. I am lucky I was able to get sell the myriad of CF props that I tried for IMAC and 3D. The Vess Props are labeled as such because of the pitch changes from the center to the tips of the prop. The 22A = 22x8, 22B = 22x10, 22C = 22x12, and so forth for the larger size props. Vess Props help the engine to spool up more, higher revs equals more thrust. Thats why it feels like you bolted on a turbo when you switch to a Vess Prop. Best prop for freestyle and extreme 'down on the deck' 3D antics![sm=thumbup.gif]

you will find that Vess props work like no other props on the market today, they give you the "instant" spool-up and the "bite " that is needed to achieve hard core 3D down low.

I was happy with a Zinger Pro 22X10 with my 18.5 lb Double Vision/DA50. I got good mid range with a clean transition,7100 RPM at full. I do a lot of hucking and the 22X10 was fine for that. I think if I get another Vess it will have to be a 22C, I dont like the lower end of mid-range with the 22B, seems I have to keep it "fat" or it leans in certain maneuvers I like to do. Maybe a 24B too, I dont think a 23B would make much of a difference.

Default RE: Vess Props

I've owned many vess props 19B,18x6,11x7 20A 20B 22A and love them and recommend them, they spin up fast and create very strong readings of thrust, much better than than any Master airscrew or xoar or zinger props, zinger props are the most inefficiencent props on the market today. I would compare this prop to a APC prop just lighter and evenly efficent and allow the engine to really spin freely and get to te power range. its extremely efficient. I dont buy anything other than APC and Vess props now for my Os160fx, DLE 20,30s.

Dear Robert hi,

I am trying to buy a stealth propeller 27B and the system always replied that you cannot send it to Greece Europe.
Please advice on that.
Is there any other dealer in Europe that sells Vess props?

Regards,

Alexandros
