Default Best for BME/110

Hey Guys!, I'm looking for your suggestions as to which airplanes (ARF mfg. & model ) work well with the "BME/110" engine---I'm thinking balance & thrust/weight issues---For IMAC flying & mild 3D---
Thanks
Ed

2.6m Comp Arf. About 23 pounds all up, flys like a foamie, and so far I haven't been able to get it to fall off on a wing no matter what the speed and attitude. Overall all performance is unreal!!

Also look into the Wild Hare Extra 260. It's price is great and it would be awesome with the 110. He's also working on a 33% Edge.

Planes Plus 34% Extra, or one of the variants. Light motors balance without nose ballast on this plane.

A CHP Extra, QQ YAk, AM Yak would be a good choices as well.

I'm putting one on the new Aeroworks 260. As for balance, we shall see, but the prototype with the DA and stock muffs had the batteries around the wing tube. Surely mine will have to be out on the engine box, but its a small price to pay for the weight savings.

Yes, and the reason Pat says this is because he has logged nearly as many hours on this very plane as I have
Coming in at or below 23lbs with Nimh's & Nicad's it really does fly a lot like a big foamie. This plane will go vertical just as fast as it does in level flight.

Wow! 3 and a half pounds lighter than a DA100? That is news to me!~) This place is the best bang for my entertainment dollar. Maybe you had a VERY light 2.6 to begin with?!hahha! Mine is 26.5 with DA100 stock muffs lithion, nothing else. That 110 is majikal!

The numbers are absolute fact. You can be as entertained as you wish, but the numbers don't lie. It's actually just a tad under 23 pounds, but 23 was used for round numbers. No cannisters, single aileron servos, twin 8611's for the rudder, twin NIMH flight batteries, ignition battery, no paint. When the Li-ons go in it will get lighter. The BME 110 is an extremely high performing, super light , and reliable engine that some running Arizona engines could do well to try to match. No arguement or debate, just the truth.

BTW, my 105cc Brison 6.4 is lighter than your DA 100, and performs on a par with the DA.

Goekeli---
I don't think it is all the engine, but that accounts for at least 2 lbs worth
As you know the comp-arf is made with resins, it all depends who lays it up and how much they use.
With NO match boxes, power busses, etc you can have a much lighter plane and anyone that flies my plane can tell the difference. Lighter is always better.

That is why I said "maybe you got a light one to begin with"!. It is unlikely the BME110 is 3.5 pounds lighter than the DA100, that was my point. My 2.6/DA100, lithion is bare bones with no fancy stuff and weights 26.5 pounds. It flys lighter than a 50cc plane at 15lbs. THe weight is not an issue for me. Would I like to fly a 23 lbs 2.6? heck yes! Waiting for invite! I remember when Jens put a BME110 in a 2.6 about the first week the 110 came out, he recorded weight at 24.5 pounds and did everything to keep weights down. Very interesting numbers here, and quite a wide variation.

I'd like a 20lb 2.6!

If I am not mistaken you can request to have them build a lightened version. I don't know what the extra cost would be though or how much they can save in weight.

If you ever make it up here, give me a shout.

Remember when Kris Welter had the 3 meter with the 110? Came to 29 pounds and flew like a big foamy. I would love to come up sometime! You are both welcome down here too. The weekdays are very nice at the basin. !~)
Jens? OK if you insist but first I have to find his shipping crate!hahahaha

Might have to make it down South some day. I have heard the Basin IS A ZOO at times.

bodywerks
I saw where Kris had mentioned that also, now that would fly like a big foamie.

This is the truth. That engine is extremely light, even lighter than the zdz80. With the light mufflers vs. cans on the DA there is an even larger difference. The DA is a bit more powerful, however.

Nah,,, Not going to start that again.

I was just saying that you could debate that, and that you could not debate the 3.5lbs difference, which in actuality is 2lbs (BME110 vs DA100)
Sorry I should have been more clear

BME claims 3. 8 pounds for engine, backplate, spinner washer, and threaded shaft. I put mine on a calibrated scale with that stuff and it was actually 4.0 pounds, in case anyone was interested...still going to be 1. 8 pounds lighter than the competition!
