Shesha, hope all is well hows the build going I am about to start my S-1 build and was admiring your work. Some of your build seems similar to the S-1 I was hoping you could give me some insight.

I've come to a pretty long stop, the flying season is nearly coming to an end, been busy with other stuff building jets, some nitro for other people and getting back into rc 1/8 buggy and heli's etc etc.

The season is nearly over so going to get back to the build soon, B Moore, anything you need just ask

Shesha glad to hear the build will be back, nice work to say the least. What glue did you use for the framing of your wing and fuse. I have seen all wood glue and on the other hand all CA. Im not sure whether or not to trust the CA throughout the structure. What are your thoughts? Are you using cans or stock exhaust, if cans what kind of mods, and can the mods be done after framing the fuse. I'm going with the ZDZ210 on cans in mine. I have the power box champion with 2x2800 powerbox batt for guidance and 1500 powerbox batt for ignition, do you think thats OK? I am interested in your stress tests and what you came up with as far as the longerons go, do you feel they will be fine or is a mod necessary? Thanks in advance! Brian

Shesha one more thing or wait maybe two. You spoke of nailing parts of the front fuse. What parts and where. My Pitts manual and plans are all in German, I see nothing in my plans or pictures where to use nails. What size and composition did you use. My biggest hurdle will be learning German ha ha. Secondly did you get the Gator adjuster?

B. Moore, I used elmers glue probond, no ca used in the build whatsoever, here is a tip for you if you want to speed things up with the probond glue, since the working area i am woking in is governed by an AC, i can control the room temprature as I please, at sections of the build where i would be tacking alot of things in place, and need to move systematically, i increared the room temprature, the glue cure time is less, if you want more time to work with the glue then a cooler room would be more applicable. Others use UHU or carpenters glue, whatever fits your bill , personnally I dont care much for ca when building planes of this size.

Am using cans for sure, the 3w 212 is most definetly going to be very loud, as if I need more attention from the size of this plane as it is.

In terms of the mods, my best guess would be doing the mods prior to balsa sheeting or fiber glassing the front main fuse structure, you will need to build a shelfing plateform to house your electronics and so forth, depends on how fussy your about keeping things tidy and presentable, within the fuselage, honestly am not there yet, but I can pretty much imagine that would be the approach, or atleast my path to doing so.

P.S. am balsa sheeting the fuse, and not going to be using the fiber glass panels to save on weight.

That would be minimal for me, i would put 4000 in there as supply for the powerbox, 16 servo's if you think about, thats alot of juice being drained especially when your 3ding...

The spruce is a better idea like Dick mentioned, however I wrapped the balsa strips with carbon fiber strands and brushed it down with epoxy resin, it holds well enough for my liking, the spruce would be stronger. I will be beefing up that section again with another idea, once I get round to it.

P.S. the plans pay careful attention to the plans, the measurements are all correct in there, as opposed to what is in the manaul. read back on my posts of this build I did mention alot of pointers....

Michou just make sure you cycle the hitec servos for a couple of minutes prior to installing them, if they are going to fail atleast fail on the ground, that what I do with all my servo's just hitec's tend to fail more then expected at times.

Yeah sure.

They at least have the only servo on the market that does not develop gear slop. That is, if they fail more than any other brand....

Just begun - very impressed with the kit!

Working on tail surfaces first. I like the look of a servo mounted more in the centre of the tailplane as per above. I am planning on running 1 x 8711 only per half. Will post pics when I have something complete.

Started with the elevators.

Planning to run 1 x 8711 on each - I hope 400oz/in is enough for sport flying? I liked the idea of running a servo toward the center of the surface - thanks michou41a. I've replaced the balsa rib caps with spruce on the horn rib. Made control horns from carbon plate - they need a little lightening. Have run light carbon tube along the leading edge top and bottom to spread the load. These will bury themselves in the balsa leading egde caps.

Fun times - loving this kit.
