RE: Variable Pitch Prop for Giant Scale is here
Seeing pictures of the turbo props cut in half with all the gear reductions I think that it would be more torque than a 100cc. If you think about it even if their is lag in the jet with that High of rpms reduced down to prop speed the props response from the jet would be strong. I know their still is lag but once it ends the plane rockets. On some of the highspeed passes the plane was hauling. I just thought that was the turbo prop at best and it seemed powerfull. Of course I have never seen a turbo prop in person but this is just my judgment

Thanks for the support... !!
You know.... If you want to drive around backwards, a standard tailwheel just does not cut it...
I had it up to around 10-15 mph.... backwards !!

RE: Variable Pitch Prop for Giant Scale is here
When flying today with my latest and greatest props... Prop7...
Bottom line... it did not work as well as Prop6...
Static thrust was down from 36-38 to 34... top end speed was way down...
Reverse was ok....
Either way... I started the plane in reverse, to be safe, and tested the new tail wheel...
I backed it up all the way to the end of the runway, where I put it in neutral and revved it up a bit.
Slammed it in forward and took off like any other plane..
Once in the air, way high, did a hammer head, powered back to half, slammed it in reverse and it almost stopped
and made some really weird sounds... Even at full power in reverse it still descends slowly... Prop7 was
should give more reverse thrust but it was about the same as prop6.
Now that I have found the limit to the changes I was making I can fine tune Prop6. But I still don’t know any prop
will give the 29 lbs in reverse I need to get it to back up in the air… If I had a ~22 lbs plane I bet it would, but 28 is too much

Very cool made for a great project for the Milling machine.
Several asked about making it for a Turbine the very best way to actually do this would be have the engine run at a constant speed. Allow the prop to load and unload essentially the throttle channel would now actually control the pitch of the prop.
The Garrett Air Research motors run like this look up TPE 331 for reference.
Again Nice Work.

In addition to the header tank without a clunk , you need to add a small pleated paper auto fuel filter to the end of the tube that is in the middle of the header tank. This filter removes all the air bubbles. This is used as an alternate to the the ultimate air trap.

RE: Variable Pitch Prop for Giant Scale is here
The real reason the engine was quitting was broken wire on the ignition switch. After the engine quit
one day, It would not start up.... I took it home and found if I push the wires going to the switch
forward, I lost spark.... Changed the switch, and have flown the plane nose down at 10 mph, full
reverse pitch for hundreds of feet, no problem.. I was sure it was the clunk... oh well... just goes
to show you have to keep your mind open if you want to move forward..

RE: Variable Pitch Prop for Giant Scale is here
I need my fellow molders advice on a problem I have.
At the beginning of this year a good friend of mine asked me to come up with something to make with his new cnc machine. Well it took some time but I did it I told him lets make a variable pitch prop system for gas power planes. I told him we would make history in the RC world. Well he liked it and said lets do it all seemed good! The agreement was he would do the machine work and drawings and some flight and ground testing. I do not have a cnc in my garage so a lot of my in put was to come in on the back side Q,C, parts assembly of parts inventory shipping taking orders paten ect ect. I hade my work cut out for me and all this was fine between us all seemed fine still.
He came up with the idea of a spread sheet to keep track of the money spent that sounded good to me it was only fare. We both agreed that the money would get paid back first from any sales that were made.
The first thing that didn’t seem right was He was making 20 and 30 of each prototype part (I know he was happy to be using his cnc) but he was putting the time on his list. I tried to tell him slow down we have a long way to go and we will be making a lot of changes to parts but ok no big deal. Well we finely did it we got the first one working pretty good took some time but not to bad. I will attach pics of the very first VPP that I put on the first plane in my shop. You can see I has changed some but not much.
The system needed fine tuning at this point.
Well I had a tragic event in my life. So I was MIA for a wile and hade to let him work alone for a wile.
I give him a call to see how we are looking and he tells me to take a hike that I have not done as much as him and it is all his now WOW I cant believe it we were friends for years traveled to jet events I was shocked.
It is still not working 100% so why there is a web sight and why try to sell something that’s not ready yet? Do I just not get it. The worst thing to me is the loss of a friend (well I though he was).
Well what should I do what would you do?

RE: Variable Pitch Prop for Giant Scale is here
Sorry but I do go in business with someone who does not show up for work for 3-4 months.
You put in no money and no time and forced me to do everything by myself and then
With no expiation show up and want to be 50/50.
I don’t think so.
