RE: 10' Slow poke
Your project is awesome. I've been looking at the .40 size slowpoke kit as a next build so I searched the forums and found your thread. I'm thinking it would be great to make a larger one, but not quite as big as yours. I'm thinking something about 80 inches in span. I need to get the kit though, and build it first. I'll keep watching your thread. Keep up the good work.

Has Pokezilla flown yet? We're all dying to see some video. That thing is rad!

Pokezilla is a great name. and she is getting closer and closer to the grass airstrip at my parents house. All surfaces are built and mounted. I am finishing the sheeting, and I'm mounting the servos and rigging the bird before I put close on her. I will post a pic with her all ready for covering as soon as she gets ready to cover. The weight is between 35 and 40 lbs.
Thanks for your interest and keep in touch!

OK friends. All controls are hooked up and working, Here are the last pics you will see before final sand and covering. I did not mount the engine because I am still not sure if I am going to go with a 100cc twin for balance issues. I did not screw in the outer wing panels so they are not tight in place. They are tight and smooth when fastened. Next step is to fill, sand, fill, sand, fit and monokote. I will post pics of that
Thanks all

If I were to drive up there could I fly it first. Its only a couple of hundred miles from Eastern NC to you. Just kidding. But I wish I had the patients to build one myself that big.

Looks really nice. I have finished my CAd drawings for my Slow Poke ( same scale but I have not laser cut it yet, not enough time.) Look forward for feed back on CG, electric motor?.... Keep up the good work.

RE: 10' Slow poke
Hello. When I saw the pictures of Your SlowPoke I just had to register to this site, and make a comment. I just love what I see! I am building a big SlowPoke myself, and until today I thought my SP was huge! Well......wingspan is not more than 1750 mm, so it's nothing really......[sm=disappointed.gif]......although, it's ready to be airborne and I'm just waiting for a calm day out at the field. Please make a video of your flight with "Pokezilla". She must make a mighty sight in air! Wish You all luck!

RE: 10' Slow poke
Hello C.
My SP weight 6.6 lbs, wingspan 68.9" and length 53.1" (if my conversion is made right) Coverd with Oracover. Motor: ASP 61 Fourstroke.
Yesterday I took a tiny jump in the air with her and she seemed to behave very nice. A bit too much wind made me hesitate further flight. I will try later on tonight.

Your building and covering skills are off the charts. That slow poke is tight and right! I wish you all the best when it comes time to put her in the sky. I'm sure it will fly great!
Please keep in touch and keep us posted on your future flight.
Happy Flying

Hello Josh,
I live in western pa so you're not that far from me.
My parents used to camp at Ponderosa Park in Salem Oh. many years ago and from looking at mapquest you're not that far from there.
Just let me know when and where you plan on the maiden, I'd love to be there.
John

RE: 10' Slow poke
Hello again from Sweden in springtime.
Thank You all for Your kind words about my SP.
Yesterday I took my SP a bit further up in the air. It's unbelivable how little speed needed for takeoff. Not more than just getting her moving forward the runway....and UP she goes with a mighty floating in the air! I'm not a experienced pilot, so I just let her go straight forward over the field ( http://www.ripamfk.com/ ). It took some time to get her down again, despite engine going at idle speed (I didn't want to make any uncontrolled moves with down-elevator). She landed outside the course and stopped with a nosedive, but there were no damagages. Now I'm really looking forward to a calm day so I can fullfill the maiden(?)flight with my SlowPoke.
