Rich,

Thanks for the quick reply ! We have a 98 db @ 9 Ft. sound
standard at our field and this is the only muffler that will meet
those requirements .

Default Hangar 9 Sukhoi

Wayne and Jerry,
I was so impressed with the ablity to take pictures of areas of concern and get them on line, I went over to Best Buy and purchased a kodak digital camera. Thanks again for all the help. I'll get my planes up as soon as I learn how to use the darn thing.

Default Hangar 9 Sukhoi

I've got 16 flights on mine now. Here are two pics that go a long with the topics in this thread... I didn't use any lead at all for balancing, getting ready to move batteries back to get cg better for 3D. The engine is mounted on 1.5" standofss. In hindsight, I would not have done the pull-pull... not needed for cg reasons anyway...

I got the push-pull set-up from Don's... looks like the aluminum one from creek is nicer!

Last few flights have been with the smoke system..very cool

Default Digital Cameras ?

Rich I went with out one for quite some time. Then finally broke down a couple months ago and got one.HP 612 2.3 mg great little camera. Now I've been looking at the digital video cameras.
A good friend and fellow flier, and club webmaster takes alot of digital video at the flying field for us. Really makes it nice for the club members. Go fly on the weekend, Monday night watch all the action that took place at the field over the weekend on the club Web site Photo's and Video Clips.

Default Bme 100

DrScoles Nice Pics neat set up. How do you like the BME 100? I have a friend that has the Sukhoi but hasn't decided on his engine yet.
How far from Renton are you? I have an Uncle that lives in Renton, Infact He is the guy that got me started in the hobby some 30 years ago. He is retired now Aeronautical Eng. I try to visit him a couple time a year. When I'm out there we fly at Marrymoor Park.

Default Hangar 9 Sukhoi

Jerry,

I live 4 miles from marrymoor...kind of convenient The sukhoi is my second airplane.(heli's are my thing). So not much experience with engines..however, so far, the BME is nice, the 26x10 prop has just started to make the sonic sound at the tips after 16 flights, so I'm switching to a 27x10 carbon prop I have been saving for after break in. I've only gone through 3 gallons, and the black stuff has stopped coming out of engine. If I follow the start up procedure, it never takes more than 2-3 flips to start it... very nice

I read a ton of stuff about the sukhoi here on this website.... got concerned with the cg... don't think I should have been. I spent another $60-80 on the pull-pull set-up and not sure it was necessary. Moving the engine forward definitely helped. I can't see mounting the cowel and being able to get the top deck off..if I didnt move the engine forward...

as far as the exit holes for the pull-pull..that was total guessing... I orginally has some yellow nyrod on the kevlar cables, glued them in, and then realized it wasn't a straight line...So, I took nyrod out, and lenghtened the little slots in the back... works fine.

this was the worst part of the whole thing...trying to figure out a straight line for it.

Like I posted above... I don't think you need the pull-pull! It adds weight, one more thing to fail, and is a PIA to install... Although its the most commented on component of the airplane...

All,
Thanks for all you contributions. I am going to wait till I receive the servos to finish balance. I'll make the decision to do pull pull. Creek hobbies looks like the best answer.
Thanks again,
Rich

Make sure you check on Horizons site or ask danny in the radio section regarding the new CG point for this plane. Initially what was in the manuals was wrong.

Default Hey Mikey you did it you did it!!!

Nice Job Rich looking good. I was out flying mine today, but forgot to take the camera along. With the 3W100 it Hovers at 5 to 6 clicks above an Idle. Your Engine Choice should be great I'll bet you'll be able to Hover at or just under 1/4 throttle. One of the other guys that showed up later got a few shots and emailed them to me tonight though.

Default OK! OK! OK!

OK Wayne I'll try to do better next time, One thing I can tell you though, this is the easiest Plane to torque roll I have ever flown. The pic you see is part of a Knife edge figure Eight, I did for the boys, they are easily impressed hehehehehe!!! I hope Chris's test flight go's OK. Wish the Weather would stay nice, but it looks like were heading for a cold spell for a while here in the blackhills.
