RE: airwild extra 260 29% who's got one?
Congratulations! I think you'll really like this plane. It's a beauty. I loved mine...until my friend midaired me with the Ultra Stick 60 I gave him. Totaled his plane and mine had a rough landing but sustained damage to the cowl, mid fuse area and left wing, inside area.
I sold it to a friend who had it repaired and is waiting for an engine to get it up in the air again. Great flying plane. VEry VERY LIGHT!. Mine was under 15lbs totally ready to fly less fuel. Great flying plane also.
thanks
Barry

Man, so sorry to hear that Barry, do you plan to replace it with another plane anytime soon?
If so have you seen the (3D Hobby Shop) new 50cc Extra SHP that is coming out hopefully in the spring. Their Katana looks like a very sweet plane too. Here is a link http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...tml#post356344 or http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=2153
I hope I didn't jump the gun ordering the Airwild, I'm sure I'll love it though.

That Kat is a pretty sweet looking airplane.
No, I don't think you jumped the gun on the AirWild. It has the best manual you'll ever use. Build it exactly like they say, using pictures to locate the batteries etc and it'll come out perfectly balanced.
Wonderful airplane. You'll love it.
Thanks
Barry

Will maiden mine tomorrow. It feels light when fully assembled. I didn`t weigh it (never do). Looking forward to having a lot of fun with this bird.

Whoa....Clark? Haven't seen you on here before. Good to see ya. I went flying today...windy and cold...perfect.
What's the good word on your engine? I want to see you fly that bird again.
thanks

Barry
i haven't been flying much this winter. i've flown a couple of times last week. They last word on the engine is I might have it this month per the new owners. Hopefully. I'm looking forward to flying the airplane and just waiting on the engine. All else is ready to go. Hope to see you flying soon.

RE: airwild extra 260 29% who's got one?
I just started flying mine a couple of weeks ago. DA 50 for power. I love the power to weight ratio , the "foamie" feeling based on the light wingloading , the performance of the plane in inverted harrier , the hover , and the rolling harrier , and also the precision of the plane in IMAC style stuff.
Issues :
Upright harrier , I'm getting some wing rock , controllable but still present. Not a big deal.
The thing I can't do is the tumbling end over end in a short distance , i.e. a real tight tumble almost in the plane's length. I have the throws maxed on the elevator to the limit of the bevel on the surfaces , and I'm running 5955s all around. Balance is at 6" behind the leading edge , which is bit further back than Airwild suggests.
Three thoughts :
(1) Move the CG back further
(2) Build bigger elevators
(3) Both (1) and (2) above
The elevators on the Extra aren't particularly large compared to a lot of the 50cc planes out there.
Don't get me wrong , I love the plane , just think it could be a little more agile in the end over end stuff.
Anybody with a suggestion , holler.
Thanks, Dorin Luck

I love mine! Irun a single 3000 Mah A123 battery, and power the ignition unit through a BEC. RTF weight is 14.25 pounds. great flying airplane!! Powered by an RCG 50cc with the stock muffler and pipe cut to length. Pulls out of a hover at 1/4 throttle.
I mounted the battery pack way back, I built a couple mounting platforms part way in between the canopy and the tail feathers and mounted it there.
I had the covering come loose and tear on one wing leading edge on about the 80th flight, easy fix.

I have been considering this plane. I was thinking about an electric conversion. It seems as though from what I have read that things just need an eye kept on them - how is the gearplate? Solid? I only ask because I have grown accustomed to gear on a plane this size to be mounted through aluminum, robart hinges and a ton of carbon fiber
