CG for Midwest Extra
I am looking for the CG point for the Midwest Extra 300 ( flat tail).
I have salvaged this plane from a friend that had a minor crash but he does not have the manual anymore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Curt

Midwest Extra 300
Curt,
The Midwest Extra 300s has the same "BEGINNING" balance point as the foiled tail Extra 300XS. Start flying the plane with the balance point of 5 7/8" from the leading edge of the wing, at the fuse. I have found no deviation nesesary. You may want to try 3D. You can move the CG back. I have flown the aircraft with a Brison 3.2 as well as the Saito 300 Twin. Both of these plane balanced with no lead. If I can help any further let me know.

Rich,
Did you have the rudder servo in the tail? Mine's almost done and I'm eyeing up how the balance is going to work out. My rudder servo is in the tail, and I got a very nice Sig tailwheel bracket, which adds a little weight back there.
If you have a few minutes, could you go into what throws you found work best, or should I set up triple rates with the specified throws and a third rate for everything I can get?

Falcons,
Three rates is a good Idea.
Ailerons: Low
9/16" (12Degrees) UP 17/32" (11) DOWN
High
23/32" (15) UP 11/16" (12) DOWN
Elevator Low
5/8" (10) UP 11/16" (12) DOWN
High
1-1/16" (17) UP 1-3/16 (19) DOWN
Rudder LOW
1-1/2 (24) LEFT AND RIGHT
High
2-1/2 (37) Left and right
Falcons if you need expo I can check the Radio. i have never used the tail for rudder servos. The radio tray with a little extra support is the best location. Need pictures let me know.

Okay, I have already mounted the rudder servo in the tail. The weight of the Brison should allow the plane to achieve 5-7/8" balance, and if not then I should be able to move the battery packs around a little bit. In addition, I just like a push-pull arrangement better than a pull-pull, so I'll stick with a tail-mounted servo.
