Default Bill Hempel's 50% Edge540 - Pics??????

I am very interested in this model. If you've seen the movie of Jason S flying this airplane, you prbably would be too . I've sent an email to Bill, asking for pictures of the airframe, structure, etc., but the more times I watch the movie, the more impatient I grow [>:].

Does anybody out there have information on this airplane, build up or foam wings, stabs, rudder? Are there any pictures available of the airplane? Here's a link to the movie:
http://www.billhempel.com/video/test001.wmv - I want one!!!!!!!!!

I saw the plane at Tucson last month. Several people were taking pictures of it so I'm sure someone will come through and post some photos. Bill had it sitting along the fence and the turtle back was off so you could see the inside. I don't remember if the fuse was built up or all fiberglass with lite ply ribs. The inside wiring detail was all I was interested in so I didn't pay much attention to the rest. I'm sure it will be at the AMA Convention next month.

It has sheeted foam wings and all wood fuse similar in structure to the Wild Hare 41% Extra. Wild Hare assisted bill in getting this plane up and shipping as an ARF.

His container is on the way, should be here in early January by my calculation.

I'm sure Bill will be happy to sell you one, as I understand it they are about half sold already.

Tom,
I know I read earlier, that you had something to do with this plane, so I called you earlier today, but you must have been out flying . Do you know what the "other" color scheme is? I do like the one on Bill's website but would like to see the other as well. Do you know how many he is getting, I may have enough interested in this plane to have to buy 3 .

Yes, here are a few photos.

I can not discuss business details, that's Bill's area, but I can say that if you want one you should get it ordered, quantity will be limited.

Is it me or are all of these planes starting to look a like?
Extra 260 / Edge 540 I know the wing is different but I think that's it?
Change the canopy and you got a 300 or a 540T.

Jens, I think you are just going to have to get the new 75% edge when it is ready too! Herbie?
I love the red/yellow scheme. It makes Jason look like a GIjoe!!! lol
Nice little plane, maybe I get to see it fly sometime.

I just sent a check of to reserve one for me, the flame job here. I am going to see what power I can pull out of my Herbie and if not happy, probably a 275 then. Anybody interested in a RTF Composite-ARF MX2 with DA150, Relions, 5995TGs?

You mean this?

I got it off the Aviat Web site. I thought Mike Badger "invented" that scheme for the G2 planes 3 years ago until I saw it on a full size Pitts S2C

Jens,
you really need to think a little bigger! hahaha! What do you want for the MX2? Now that Darcy has flown it I'm sure if has gone up eleventy billon dollars!~). For real, this edge looks nice and the price can't be beat. Think the herbie can pull it? Did you ever resolve the over heating with that huge prop? hahhahLAO!!!
You got the yellow MX right?

joe

Thanks for posting the link jazzyrc1. Joe, the MX2 flyes great, Darcy gets a little more time on it now and then, and he likes it better and better. It really excells at IMAC because it doesn't fly as fast as a 260, so you have more time on down lines. On the other hand, it's got a very good thrust to weight ratio, so multiple snaps on up lines is no problem. The roll rate is phenominal and the rudder is very powerful. I do not have much time on it as a 3D airplane, but even with CG forward it elevators and harriers like a 3.0m Extra. I am thinking $5k for it RTF. It has smoke with 2 x 24oz tanks for smoke oil and 1 x 50oz gas tank. All Fromeco batteries, Smart Fly Turbo Reg, Fromeco Reg on Ign., 2x4800, 1x2400 Li-Ion, RCNlimp V2 Carbon tailwheel, 9 x HS5995TGs, custom wiring with Multiplex connectors to wings.
Give me a shout 818.298.9049 if interested or want to chat.
And no, 50% will be plenty big for me. I really like this airplane because it appears to come out very light for its size. I will make a ramp for my trailer though he he.

You can just buy me $5,000 worth of stuff on your AmEx, that should take care of that.
