Is anyone kitting the Flair Yak 55?
Now that Flair has stopped kitting the Yak 55, is there any other companies in the US or UK making a Yak 55? I decided I would like to buy one of the Flair kits, but Radical RC doesn't have any in stock and Flair stopped making these kits. I guess one will show up for sale on this website someday. Otherwise, I doubt that there are any other means to aquire one. Let me know if you hear of any other Yak 55 kits out there, Thanks, Kurt.

I think the Yak that Flair used to do was from CMPro in China, have a look at the Jamara website also and Minicraft they all used to re-badge the CMPro poducts.

Flair's yak 55 was a kit...not an arf.

It was a Yak 54 with a composite Fus and ARTF, I don't know of the 55 kit maybe your correct and they only marketed the 54 as a ARTF?

Wow, I didn't know they marketed the Yak 54 arf. I knew they picked up the CMP warbirds, but hadn't paid attention to the other ones.
Flair used to make an 80" yak 55 kit. Here is a link to what it used to look like in the ads

This is the 140 version that Flair used to supply, as informed earlier still available from China Model Productions, I have the small version and its very tip stall sensitive the elevator movement is only 7mm each way otherwise it will screw out of loops and even reversalls.

I looked at this kit, but the fiberglass fuse limited any modification. Seagull Models has a Yak 54 that is an all wood ARF, that I can cut down the turtle deck and install a bubble canopy. Other Yak 55 scale features can be easily modified also.

I really like the look of the Yak 55M aircraft with the single cockpit, so I thought I would do alittle kit bashing to a Yak 54 two seater and make my own Yak 55M.

I also have the Flair Yak 55M kit. I bought it a couple of years ago (here on RCU) and probably won't get around to building in the near future. Let me know if you are interested. Dale

RE: Is anyone kitting the Flair Yak 55?
it has an 80in span about 1100sq in, it weighs 15 lb. i have a brison 2.4 in it because the nose moment is shortit needs all the nose weight you gan get ,the control surfaces are big and inset there are no gaps. i use hiteck 645 through out the plane is more of a scale project than a full out aerobatic plane , it will do IMAC better than 3D it wants to stall when you pull out of high alfa manouvers, but tumbleing manouvers are outstanding landings are slow and solid. in my opinion there are better planes in this class out there

Looks great. What did you cover it with or did you glass it? Did you have to add nose weight. Sounds like it flys scale- like. Is the 2.4 ample power? Looking forward to building mine but as always most anything is for sale. I prefer the scale to the flip-flop flyability so I think I will be happy with mine. Thanks.

It is coverd with ultracoat the cowel is painted with cheveron urethane a perfect match. the weel pants didn't come with the kit i just happend to have a spare pair in a box so i used them with the 2.4 and all batt. up front i didn't have to add weight. with the 2.4 it has great power but I have better flying planes and i have a friend who has a goldburgh yak 77in with a fugui 43 that I feel flys better but that is an ARF
