Default Perry Info

Aeroaviator---check any of the recent AMA magazines. They've all got big ads in them---also check the "non-flying" competition listings in the back of the AMA rag. If you can't find any info, call me at 770/423-0950. I can fill you in. I'd highly recommend you go----its quite fun. Later,...Steve.

Boy, that Christen Eagle sounds right up my alley...but I KNOW I can't come home with something like that right now!
I happen to have a real nice G-62 that might go nicely on that too.

Dates, directions, etc. are all spelled out here Leeds..

Funny thing, I don't recall one of the main days being on Friday evening before. I'm afraid most of the best deals will have been done by the time I get there on Saturday.

Rleeds, the show starts Friday 5:00pm at the Perry Agracenter located in Perry, Ga. It is right off I-75. If you are heading south on I-75, it is on the left, or North side. You can't miss it if you get to I-75. For any one else that has never been there, believe me, even though it starts on Friday now, there will be more deals left on Saturday than you will want to look at. Thooouuusands of airplanes, radios, boats, etc. Look forward to seeing you guys there.

Default Early deals

To tell the truth, I think one of the main reasons that they opened up the show on Friday evening this year is to give the public a chance to get in on some of the deals that in years past have been struck during the set-up hours. There are plenty of good deals to be had all through the show, but anyone who has sold stuff in previous years knows that there were an awful lot of deals going down on Friday night. The first year I took stuff to sell, I sold over $4000 worth of stuff, $3200 worth on Friday, between 7:00 and 10:00 PM! By getting the public in there on Friday night, they are making alot more deals open to Joe Modeler, and not just the other sellers and traders. I, for one, think it's a good move. Gives the people that are only there to look and buy a fighting chance at the good deals before they are scarfed up by the high rollers.

Sounds good but I'm thinking that those deals will just be made on Thursday night and Friday morning instead of Friday night. No matter when they open, the tables will have to be set up beforehand and that's when those deals were made as I understand it. Won't change that I don't think.
I'm not complaining though. I guess they know what they're doing.

Default G.F. is right

The setup time offically starts at noon on friday (if not before that, cause you know people will show up early to get a parking spot inside the fenced in area to unload first) The show does not open to the public till 5pm that night which means from noon till 5 there will be an awful lot of deals being done.

I know quite a few of the members from GAMA and in the previous years shows I've asked them why not just open it to the public on friday night anyway, they used to try and enforce the NO SELLING or NO trading before the show offically starts but it just couldn't be done.

I see no reason why the people setting up shouldn't get first dibs anyway. My problem is that some of the great deals that people get are put back on their own tables for a lot more money. It happens to me every year. I traded a built sig fazer for a guys kit. the next morning he had that same fazer on his table asking for more money than what the trade was worth. I asked him and he was at least honest "It's easier to sell a built airplane than a kit" No problem with me I still got what I wanted. I also sold a scratch built airplane for $50 to a guy that just said he had to have it to fly. Well he had it on the table the next day with a used engine in it (25 size airplane) selling it for $175. I just laugh. Same thing happens to a lot of people.

What really ticked me off last year was someone showed up with a barrel of monokote for $5 bucks a roll (awsome deal) it was a fight but I nabbed about 8 rolls for myself. But at least 2 of the 6 guys buying from the barrell had those same rolls of monokote for sale on their table the next day for twice the price. You gotta laugh at it and just enjoy the day!

I've known one or two guys that will buy a table to just get there during the setup hours. What's that saying "the early bird gets the worm"

Default Perry, Ga.I I

I think people just like to wheel and deal. Friday night is always the best time to deal. Of course you are right some of the deals wind up on a dealers table for the public.

fwc.........see ya in Perry.

Default Perry and the bottom line

OK Guy's, the bottom line about Perry is, (A) It will RAIN and it will be COLD. (B) There will be a line to eat and a line to go to the toilet. (C) you should have arrived sooner. (D) If you are selling- it is made of crap- if buying it is made of gold. (E) It will be one of the most fun things you will do this year. If ya see an old guy wearing a faded JR hat give him your best deal.
