RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
Boo,
As Chris mentioned you can get basically the SAME your mate's have but in a red scheme... slick looking too... it is the SAME design with only a few VERY minor changes (pinned hinges instead of hingepoints, integrated engine box top instead of glueing it on afterward, etc)
I think they have a few left in stock... but I wouldn't delay.
Now... on the OTHER hand... if you wanna put something beside theirs that would dwarf them and fly as well or better... then stick to the thread and watch for our vids and other build reports...
It's only gonna get better I'm sure...
And another benefit is that EF has a UK partner... not sure when they are getting their stock in... btu I'd reckon pretty soon!

If your point is what 50cc experience do I have then the answer is none, but there are a couple of the original EF 50cc Yaks at our club, and I am keen to own something like that. ISTM someone less expert like myself benefits from better vertical performance - certainly the lighter weight of the E540 helps compared with the Funtana.

I called and reserved mine today. A very nice lady helped me get my dream plane. I've waited for 2 years for this plane.
Thanks Chris for not giving up.

Hey Chris! Very nice, assembly manual! Much more professional looking than the few pages stapled together I got with my other ARF'S!
Hey Maudib, That big spinner looks great! I've decided to go the low calorie route myself and leave off the "Scale" items because of my heavier exhaust set-up. But man that is one hugh cowl inlet hole; your spinner did the trick!

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
I wanted to pass on a technique that I learned from master builder Dave Jones of DSP builders. This applies to customers of both color schemes, but especially to those who have purchased the black/yellow scheme. The first couple of times I took the black/yellow Yak out into the sun the black covering on the leading edge of the wing wrinkled quite a bit. I followed Dave's procedure and this has not been an issue since. Here is his technique.
First, clean the wing with windex or alcohol and check to be sure there is no debris on the covering (we don't want to drag particles over the covering material and scratch the finish).
Attach a new cover to your iron. Set the iron to 350 degress first and seal all edges completely.
Turn the iron down to 300 degrees. Now we will use a heat gun in conjunction with the iron. Start at one end of the wing with the heat gun and carefully shrink the covering. Lay the iron on the surface of the wing just behind the heat gun. As the covering tightens from the stream of hot air from the heat gun, allow the iron to follow its path and seal the covering into the wood. Use a light touch relying on the weight of the iron to do the work and avoid digging into the wood. Keep things moving until you reach the other end of the wing. I have had great success with this technique and the black covering has remained wrinkle free.
I''d also recommend doing this before applying any graphics as it is difficult if not impossible to get covering wrinkles out from under vinyl graphics without melting the vinyl.

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
Has there been any video released with the brillelli? I saw the video from Chris' Web site, but I was looking to see an unedited, Chris or someone doing what most of us wish we could do, continuous video.
Been trying to keep up with the thread, but you guys are posting faster than most of us can read! Sorry if I'm asking for redundant info. One other thing how did the other company end up with Chris' original Yak design. Sorry if this is considered off topic.

Chris has one done with the B60 and mine is "practically" done...
Both of us are trying to get out soon and get some video... he's in GA and I'm in KY...
His has the CF tuned pipe and mine has a the stock DA50 exhaust attached...
I'd say by this weekend for sure we'll see something...

Yes... it does fit with justa slight modification of the holes...
The holes on the 60 are slightly larger, closer together and below the centerline of the port...
But a little rattail file had them aligned in 5 minutes...
See here the differences...

Chris, I've seen your flying skills & 30mph would be mere nuisance to you! In fact I'd like to see you fly it in that kind of wind just to see what a pro can do in high wind. Shoot some video!, you are our only hope for quick 366GT video! All we want to see is the pull out power anyway, that's what all the skeptics & power junkies want
Dave, as usuall you can do more in 1 minute with a graphics program than I could do in a whole day. Beautiful diagram. Did you check your port match. I'd hate to see the exhaust flow smacking into any part of the exhaust pipe flange that maybe sticking into the port. Hog her out with the dremel. Though the amount does look small wouldn't hurt to gasket match the flange to the port.

Actually I had already made that up and shared it on the Brillelli 60 thread... tee hee... but it doesn't take long...
The port of the 60 is actually a little smaller (just a smidge) than the 50.. so making sure the bolt holes are dropped and inward a tad will get you right over...

BTW Chris, Its a done deal on the wind. I've talked to the higher authorities for such matters & I've been assured it will be flying weather tomorrow.

Hi john,
Silver is basically agreeing with what you are saying. Its just as you indicated, no amount of tightening will keep the link from moving sooner or later on the glass end. Im sure he came across strong because it sounds like one of those "I know about that because I lost a plane over it" deals. If anyone needs bolts, you can do what I did. I get them from MCmaster-Carr.com. I buy longest ones they have that have thread all the way to the head. That way you can just cut them off to the length you need instead of trying to buy every length out there. You can get 25 or 50 for what it cost for 10 from somewhere else. If anyone needs some, I'd be glad to send them a couple. Is it okay to mention a website here? Sorry if thats a no no. Just wanted to help.
Get those Yaks in the air!
