Well you are in a BIG desert area... Most of te black is on the bottom though and that which is on the wing is mostly over solid sheeting (over the leading edge)
Will black be visable or wrinlkes be visable flying? Yes and No..

Either earlier in this thread or in the manual Chris gives instruction on how to keep the black from wrinkling. When landing my Chimpmunk, with a dark blue leading edge on the wing, I was always supprised at how it would disapear when it dropped below the top of the hills in the background when comming at me, especially on landing. Black & yellow are my favorite colors but I orderd a red one because of the black on the leading edge.

Thinking about one of those snazzy stretch covers like the pros use at the big meets? Anyone know where to get one of those to fit the 88" Yak?

Actually... the one that comes witht eh 88" is probably better... with it's reflective coating... it'll reflect the heat better than perhaps even a white cover will...

I'm talking about the stretch fabric covers that cover the whole airplane, spinner to tail, wingtip to wingtip. I saw them at the Don Lowe Masters on airplanes in between flights. Looked liked they slipped on and off very easily. Where to get them?

Thanks for your replies, I think I'm going to stick with the Y/B version...I've just been checking the videos and most of the black is on the bottom so as some of you guys mentioned it shouldn"t be a problem.
So we get a canopy cover with the kit ....way cool !!!

it will be 1 pound heavier plus what ever the bigger prop weighs than the da50 and have great power to weight.
I would prob use a 3 blade to tame down the power a smidgen
the engine price diff is very close.
go for it if you have the desire to do it.

Finally flew the Brillelli 366GT powered Yak today! Awesome! 7180 on a 23x8 Mejzlick on the 2nd tank of gas. I could easily see this thing turning 7400 after break in and tuning. Power is awesome and super smooth and quiet with the ES CF pipe. 4 flights today, hopefully several more in the morning before work so we can get some video. So far I really like this engine!

Tyically same as a non piped set up to start with. Lawnboy ashless at 32:1. Max out rpms then back off about 300. Will run 4 gallons making small needle valve adjustments as needed. After this will switch to synthetic and re-set needles. That's it. You can probably cut the header and gain a few additional rpms on the top end, but may start to sacrifice midrange smoothness and transition. I typically don't cut the stock length of the MTW header. I was really impressed with the transition right out of the gate with this set-up. No stumbling to come up on power.
