RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly

I think you were going to say put the MPI between the receiver and the throttle servo... well... that just might work... I don't know.

You got you a big purdy? Must have cause it take s a LONG time to unbox this behemoth...

I'm glad... I was getting lonely in a club of one... now there's a club of two or 3 and perhaps some more...

Hope everyone ordered some midgnioght oil with their Yaks!

Well two out of three so far. Maybe my cowl will come later today. I have it on the conference table here at work and me thinks me need a table for a 10.

Wings and fuse are unscathed due to Extreme Flight's innovative 6" x 10" international orange sticker which reads...

    ATTENTION !!!!!!

Okay guys, if anyone has a yak shipped in damage - it isn't Chris' fault. He made sure of that. Very nice packing job. All boxes were double boxed (three total), and I loved the new stickers that he has added since the first 85" shipment!

Here's a few pics to tie you guys over. I don't have the time to start work on it now, but boy do I want to. I'll have to wait till tomorrow.

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly

Well mine will be here on the 28th. I live in Utah and I guess part of the delivery route is via stagecoach. No worries still waiting on some of the gear needed.

    I will be running -

Da50 with escomposites pipe, picking up next week.
    5955 all the way around
    Fromeco Bats and switches

Have a question. What is the header drop needed for the pipe?

    Thanks, Dave

Yep, install an MPI reg between the rx and throttle servo and it should solve everything. They are light weight, can handle a throttle servo draw no problem, and can let you go unregulated to the 5955's and still regulate for the throttle so you can use a 5965 or some other high speed digital (or analog) if you want.

    The plane is $650..

It includes phenolic control hors, titanium pushrods, ballinks, CF tailwheel and a pulll-pull system.

It also includes a fuel tank and gas stopper.

All top notch stuff. See a pic earlier in this thread of the hardware. My pic shows eveything exvept the fuel tank, stopped and some rubberbacked washers.

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly

Glad to see that these are arriving in good condition. We spent a lot of time improving the boxes and the way the components are packed inside them. I hope the rest arrive safe and sound.

About running the unregulated batteries for the flight surfaces. I too initially considered this (yes I have a 5955 on throttle), BUT the problem is your voltage will vary as the pack is drained, therefore control response will vary from flight to flight. Using a 6V regulator you will get the same amount of voltage supplied to the servos on each flight. Something to consider.

SoCalSal, the hardware included is all top of the line components. There is no reason to replace any of it. The only hardware not included are the wheels, axles and collars.

what are people talking about with the 4" offset arm, is there nothing for the rudder or is that something people just prefer to do??, you cant use arms that come with servos? my dual rudder in my comp arf has a piece that attaches to the round disc of each servo, and my am yak i had, came with one big arm for the 5955 servo, that attached to one of the standard discs(or t's) as well, it was a big piece of aluminum that gave the throw needed for the pull pull, just curious...

  16. #166

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly

Servo arms are not included. I included carbon fiber servo arms with the previous 50cc Yak and I found out that 90% of my customers didn't use them.
The 4 inch offset arm from SWB is for the rudder.
SoCalSal, we have a second shipment arriving around March 10. If you are interested in getting one please contact us ASAP at 770-887-1794 as most of these are spoken for.
The next shipment will be in May.

1/4 inch offset. I believe this is the only size offset available from SWB on the 4 inch arm.

What are the 6 bonded washers for?

If we all think the same, only one of us is necessary

  24. #174

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly

The bonded sealing washers are for mounting the cowl and canopy. We sent the instruction manuals out via Priority Mail yesterday so they should arrive to you guys tomorrw and will explain where all the hardware goes. The manual is also up on our website on the media/downloads page.

I am astounded that UPS can lose a box that is 68"x20"x14" with fluorescent stickers all over it!
