I use Life and measure use by fully charging at field before 1st flight. Keep track of minutes on each flight and recharge when 4 flights completed. Divide Mah added by total minutes or total flights, provides mah used per average flight.
That works great for LiPo's, LiFe's, and A123's. Due to the way Nimh's charge that way doesn't work well for them.

I gave up on NMH about a year ago. Have used Lipos for my receiver since then, until about two months ago when I switched to Life. Don't know whcih I prefer more, the Life or Lipo. Life seem to be more stable. I have also heard recently that the charger I used on my Nmh batteries was not very accurate at topping them off, which may have contributed to their performance.

hello,

i have now nine flights on mine (four today), my CG is too aft for me but the most important problem: i have to add about 31 clicks of uptrim on elevator (5 mm of throw). It was most important before today because i have now nearly one degree of upthrust. Do you have a solution (i have already check incidence and it seems ok, i have to check that another time to be sure) ?

Thanks

Stephane

Stephane, no upthrust is needed. The Yak should be set up 0-0-0, which is 0 degrees for engine, 0 for wing and 0 for stab. Check to make sure their is no reflex in your ailerons and confirm proper CG using the 45 degree line test.

thanks chris,

i though strange to put upthrust, but i have to change my CG and check another time everything to solve my problem (0 degree everywhere). What is reflex chris ?

Reflex would mean the ailerons would be raised slightly from neutral. This would cause a lot of problems.

plus, i forgot to say im kinda thinking ahead a bit, if ef announces a 80cc or 100cc edge at some point i most likely would sell my 88 edge to try and get the bigger one, like i did with my 88yak, then i transport the 2300s into that one, darn ef always making me want new and more expensive planes
RJ Gritter flew a prototype at the XFC this summer.

Getting the yak dialed in for the King 50. The OS55 is really running good, idles about 1700 and top end at 7400 with a 22 X 8, going to a 23 X 8 tomorrow will post results.

Cool. One of my friends brought out an OS 55 this weekend at the Austin big bird. It's seems to be a great running engine. I wish I could get loose from work to go to the King 50. I've got my 88'' Edge dialed in and ready.
Charles, guess we will miss each other at Atlanta this year since Chris moved it to Macs. He might do it next year in October he said, just not an official huckfest. Anyway, yes my OS55 is running great, I am pleasantly surprised as I am a die hard DA guy.

The timing was bad for me to make it this year for me to make it to the All up Huck. It works out great for me at the GMA field because My parents only live about 30 min north in Cleveland, GA. I'm going to be coming home for a week some time this Fall. I'll plan to time it for the unofficial fly-in.

i believe that was an extra, i want a bigger edge....someday im sure they will do one, they are in it for the long haul, and when they do it will most likely become the best model in that size class, just like they always do....maybe someday a pitts m12 biplane to make that "beast" look like a ground squirrel

Oh, I thought you meant an Extra. Whooooooooops.
I am sure Chris wants to do a larger Edge, I will talk with him about it next week at the King 50.

Speaking of King 50, getting my borrowed from Chris Hinson 88" Yak dialed in and looking forward to flying it in the King 50 next week.

Cycles, the unofficial is not till next year (if then). Chris said he has been to so many events this year he is just worn out.

well my yak is toast...deadstick. coming in to hot with wind at my back. I was at a fly-in to many people to land anywhere but the runway, tried to land in the bean field but overshot it, hit at tree. so, should I get an EF extra or an EF edge? power plant is going to be a BME 58. Do you think the nostrils in the cowl will effect the side carb of the BME?

Sorry to hear about that. If I were you I'd get the Edge. It's new. I wouldn't worry about the side carb. You can put a velocity stack on it to clean up incoming air.

I know Frank. It's crazy. If you click on the number of posts above my avatar it shows you the number in each year. 2004 was my sickest year. Almost 4000 posts. Last year was the 2nd most. This year is the lowest. Maybe I'm starting to wear down.

And this time I saw the crappy weather coming so I took Friday off work. Yessssssssssss!

Today I went back to my Xoar 22x8. Big mistake. I'm switching back to my MSC 22x8. It's a waaay better 3D prop.

Today I saw an EF 78" Extra 300 go in. Sniff sniff. Like losing a family member. The older gent has trouble seeing and flew way too far out. Lost it. Not sure if they ever found it. Sad.
