Has anyone ever built this plane or know of someone who has? I an thinking of going for it but I have only seen one pic of it(Chip Hyde flew one somewhere) Great looking plane. I would like any info at all even bad stuff! I don't have the plans yet so I don't know what equipment I would need. any pictures would be great as well. I have not been able to find anything interesting on the Google search. Thank you.

scarfaced,
I am just finishing up a total rework, I did not build the plane but I did completely go through it. I do not have the plans but I did get a copy of a magazine review from years ago, if you are interested I will send you a copy. I am almost ready to take pictures.

Thanks Tim

How would you like to send a copy of the article?
I am very interested in reading it. I have a friend who has allot of mags but not the one with the Cobra construction article in it.
Would also love to see some pics of yours when you get it all up and going, sounds like a great project to get into. Remodeling models. Have to do a little myself actually. Hit a slab of ice with my main gear and left them there.

Nick, A good friend just built one and it crashed on its maiden flight, total wreck. If you want I'll ask him if its OK if I give you his phone number and you can ask him questions.

You may want to contact Dan. Here's his address.
Dan Santich Models, Rt. 2, Box 293,
Pinnacle, NC 27043
Phone 919-368-4414.

This is the last address I have for him. If this is incorrect, try searching on Dan Santich Models. He may even have a kit for sale.
He's a great guy. I had the pleasure of holding his COBRA when he was giving it the maiden flight. I believe he had a "TARTIN" twin in it. I don't know how many cc. That was quite a few years ago. Dan was the chief designer for Top Flite at one time.
You may see posts asking if he is still in business....I don't think he will ever get out of it. Modeling is in his blood. I was there for the maiden flight of t he HOTS too. The picture in Model Airplane News is of my daughter holding "THE HOTS".
Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Very impressive. Nice pics. You sure did a great job on your Cobra. It's a very unique design. Seeing the pictures of your plane makes me want to build one too, but I don't have the pilot skills to handle it. I would probably distroy it on it's maiden flight.
If you have a pic of it on the ground without an unclutterd background, I'd like to copy it and use it as one of the pics in my screen saver. (I use a couple dozen pictures of models as my screen saver. I add to it as I see models that are "different" and really impress me.) [email protected]
Thanks,
Ron

I had one of the Cobra bipes years ago. It had a Q50 and flew well. On one flight the bottom wing came off, and then with the weight of the plywood spar, landing gear mount gone the plane flew great!

.
I am not certain but it would have been near the weight of yours. I had good power then so yours should be awsome. I remember it being a bit pitch sensitive on the first flight, other than that it was a good plane. I sold it years ago to a fellow modler in another province. I bought a cowl from a US manutacture and it cost me 70.oo plus shipping. This would be almost 20 years ago!
It looks like nothing else when it is coming towards you! Have fun with it.
Dennis.

thanks Dennis

I have had a great time the last 18 months building, fiberglassing, painting and finishing this project.
it is the largest to date as far as mass is concerned. I fly regularly with a wildhare extra 300 special
with 62 cc gas it is my favorite so far. I am getting anxious to fly the cobra but will hold back until everything is complete and tested.

thx for your input

Hey Jowilly, I was wondering if you'd ever gotten your Cobra in the air. Would love to hear about it's flight test and trim out. Still have my plans but have bought a new house and have nowhere to build until we get "MY" addition completed. Let us know.

Thanks
