I know I need to weed off some of the glow stuff and go stronger on the gas stuff I am looking at doing/having 4-5 gas birds to replace the about 8 glow planes. I will just keep a few glow motors and servos and sell off the other stuff here soon. I pulled all of my gear of my DP EXtra to run the EF Yak, man that is a good flyer machine. The DP Extra has treated me well for 7 years but she 2 has to go.

Krazy,
You know they say when you go Gas you will get rid of all your glow stuff...well it aint true. Although I have a 40% (two actually) I usually bring out the 28% with a DA 50 on a regular basis. Lately having my own company has given me LESS time to fly than when I was still adtive in the Army...go figure. Besides that I have a U Can DO with a Saito 82 that is my travel plane. I actually brought it with me to NC last November. I find the glow stuff easier to keep in the car and not be bothered by gas smell.
I will give the simple glow OR electric setups one thing; they can be much less complex than your higher performance gas setup. Between a bunch of regs and powerboxes trouble shooting can be bothersome. On my 28% I follow the KISS principle. No fancy regs or LIONS, just NIMH and switches. Thus far it has been just fine.
When it comes to the planes that fly well I have learned to leave well enough alone! Once I get them to that point I dont mess with em.
One final note is that my simple 28% setup is easier than glow in that there is no starter or glow igniter required. Gas and go!
Best of luck on your new bird! Lets see you do some serious 3D down low

I stopped by a nice hobby store in Highpoint today, picked up my 1st electric plane. I have no idea at this point how to mount the motor the directions talk about 2 types of electric. Don't they know I operate off pictures lol. I have it all together except mounting the motor and installing the battery and such. I need to maiden this thing tomorrow. Well no call from DA this week to ask me if I still want the 85, along with that I have not seen any post from someone jumping up and down and telling us all how they are getting 8K on a 27" prop and this thing beat a 150 from 3W lol. I did install a 5955 on the rudder today on the H-9 cap. I got me about 5 of those from the sale servo city had a few days ago. I installed the other 4 on my Ultimate and pulled off the 5645 Hitec. I am doing my best to weed off some of the glow stuff this year. I think about 3 glow planes at one time should hold me along with 4 gas planes. I am looking to get DOD with new toy today. I have about 3-5 arm frames that i have pulled the motors off and need to get those planes out of my Hanger or put them back together. I am on the fence on that one. I need to get my flying down there but being away for the year or so has me up in the clouds now a days....

Krazy,
On inspection of your rudder setup I might make two worthwhile suggestions:
1. Plce a small washer over the 440 screw end so as to prevent the ball link from popping off. You can get ones really cheap from the HW store.
2. Be careful using those stock servo arms. I like to use the metal/aluminum ones. I have yet to destroy the metal ones but I have destroyed those ones.
If you have some pictures of your motor PM me and I might be able to help you get it mounted. I actually started out flying electrics at first. I was a young PVT in the Army and didnt want to spend all my money on booze. Flying electrics was cheap and fun! Now the planes aint so cheap but more fun.
KC Hobbies btw is an awesome hobby shop up there.

I have 8 SWB arms 1.25 that should have arrived but as you see they have not. It should be a drop in once the arms arrive. I will be running 8411 on all other surfaces.
On the Yak I can only use 2 of the pre drilled hole is my possible guess unless i drill somemore using this servo type arm that came with the motor.
What do you use to check the voltage of these 3 cell packs?
oh yeah washer has been added to keep me on my toes, its a washer on all of my other birds tks as i had forgot.
