Help me choose an engine for Lanier 30% Edge 540.
i just ordered a 3w75us for mine. decided on the 3w for a few reasons. its cheaper than the 80, its a side carb instead of the rear carb(easier to adjust) and its needs the nose weight to balance out.
just my .02 cents.

Yeah what CAPtain23 said, because if you don't watch your left thumb your gonna need a new plane. LOL
Mines a tad over 21lbs and plenty crazy with the 80.

ZDZ80
Better get the 80 because we all know that the 30% Edge isn't going to be big enough for to long. Here is the down side to the 80, You are going to have to flip it no spring starters here. I tell you what. I will sell you my 80 twin and I will get the 100 twin.

Isn't there like a million of the same threads
I am partial to the thunder tiger .46 good all around motor....I think it will serve the purpose. Course the 72 other threads about this plane with engine all say go with the ZDZ 80!

I went with the 60. All up weight under 18lbs. The additional weight of the 80 (prop, more gas, muff....) will significantly reduce the 3d envelope of the plane. I already have the larger planes but wanted one that will fit in the 6' bed of the truck.

The zdz60 & 80 are virtually identical in size, and with a weight difference of 4-5 ozs. Inverted pitts mufflers will weigh close to the same and prop weights will very greatly from manufacturer. I have a bambula 24X10 that weighs the same as zinger 26X10.
The big question is:
How you got this plane at UNDER 18lbs when everyone else's are coming in at 20.5 & up with the same engines?
I was careful with mine and arrived at 21 lbs 3ozs. I've read of a few on here that have been a tad lighter but most are 21-23 lbs.
