Default Cannister ready 50cc Aircraft

I know of the Hanger 9 260Extra and the BME 330L (don't export) and the QQ Yak 86" does anyone else know of any others?

Aeroworks Extra 260 both the 50cc and 100cc versions. Wildhare is starting to do tunnels as well. I beleive the 50cc Sukhoi has it built in

The two first ones are ready for canister but you still need to install the canister support former.

The QQ actually has the support already built in. All you need to do is push in the canister and you are set.

Bubby

Thanks for that, the Aeroworks Extra looks interesting so does the Sukohi but already having a Yak its too similar.

I don't mind installing a simple former, after the work I did installing a cannister tunnel in a Jamara Extra, installing a former is peanuts in comparison.

I am just trying to get a diffinitive list of those manufactures that are sufficiently switched on to understand the needs and the current trends of most switched on flyers, you know those that understand that noise means less power. [sm=tongue_smile.gif] They don't have a tounge in cheek smiley this will have to do.

Mike,

Understood. Aerotech has some planes as well. I'm waiting for QQ's Python myself.

Sound is everything anymore ajnd I'm glad to see most manufacturers are jumping on the bandwagon and installing tunnels for cans/pipe.

Come to think of it, Comp-Arf just released a new Extra built around a 50cc engine with a built in tunnel, I think it's a 2.12 size. I fly the 2.3 and though it does not have a tunnel per sa, it can easily hand a can and is pre-setup to accept it

The Python would be nice, but QQ have no plans at the moment to make a 50cc size, so I will keep looking for something interesting.

Aerotec does have a 50cc Python which I'm pretty sure is can ready and I hear is pretty good, but I'm not real fond of their ARF's. I had a bad one and I hear others have had great experience with them but I tend to shy away

I haven't looked at the baby Sukhoi from WildHare yet, but both of their new 28% size models (designed for 50cc engines) the Extra and Edge have tunnels built in and those nifty ring mount cowl setups. I'm in the process of putting one of the Extras together and it's a really nice ARF with the optional hardware package being all good stuff as well.

Thanks Bill.

Unfortunatly the Python looks like its not capable of taking a full cannister instalation, it just has a cut out on the underside to let the air out, this is gleaned from the manual as it does not say anywhere that it is cannister ready.

Mike,

Over in the Aertoec Support forum there is a thread on that plane. I believe the tunnel exists but you do have to install the wood for it. The first Yaks were that way. All the cutouts were there but you did have to install the wood. It was not mentioned in the first manuals.

Sorry Zeeb, I was not ignoring you, you must have posted at the same time I did and I did not scrol up after reading Bill's post.

Looked at the wildhare site interesting, but I am not sure about the weight they are quoting for an 84" span plane, seems excesivly heavy.

No problem, I have plenty of those and severe CRS as well

The first versions of WH products were very heavy as they were built for the first time gas pilot, but the second version are supposed to be loads lighter. All of their planes fly very well. I have his 33% Edge and it's nice and lite at 22lbs on a 3W 80 and flies just like it's baby brother which is the 28% (50cc) version. I have a friend with the 50cc version one at 17lbs with all the stock stuff and you would not ever know it weighed that much.

I understand, its just that a 50cc weighing in at 17lbs is in my opinion pushing it a bit, I modified a QQ Yak to take a cannister and still it only weighs in at 16.25Lb with an MVVS 58 pro in it, and that engine is about one pound heavier than the MVVS 45 or a DA, it all accords on the wing area in the end and the total wing loading, I would like to get hold of the BME Extra, but they will not sell to me in the UK. They are missing what is an expanding market.

The Extra 260 is a good one if it flies anything like the 35%. I forgot about that one

The Troybuilt models 30% Extra manual does not show it as cannister ready.

Current information is:

Hanger 9 Extra 260
BME 330L ( not available in Europe)
QQ Yak 86"
Aeroworks Extra 260
Wilhare Sukhoi, Extra, Edge, manual says they are cannister ready, but difficult to verify due to generic photographs in the manual.
Composite ARF 2.1M Extra, 2x2 Extra, these look very interesting.
Aerotech Yak 54

I have down loaded all the manuals of the above and verified that a full cannister can be fitted except as stated above.

BaldEagel,

[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4882656/mpage_3/key_/tm.htm]THIS LINK[/link] contains pictures of the WildHare Extra tunnel installation.

[link=http://www.wildharerc.com/downloads/documents/canisters.pdf]THIS LINK [/link]describes installing cannisters on the older WH Extra 300LX. The new 300 is cannister-ready.

Good luck, there are many wonderful planes on the market now.

Nice link, he looked as though he went to a lot of trouble installing it.
