Dang, that's an awesome deal for that plane! Just on price alone, that plane is less expensive, in real dollars, than it was for me to build my Midwest Extra airframe five years ago - and that doesn't take inflation or build time into the equation. Based on my Edge, I'm sure this Extra will fly circles around the Midwest too! Nice job on the sale, guys.

RE: Performance Aircraft Unlimited 30% Extra 330l SALE!!!
I am thinking about getting this plane. I have never flown a gasser and this would be my first. Can someone give me guidance on electronics I would need.
What I have/ or plan on using:
Have:
Futaba 9C radio
Futaba 9 channel PCM Rx
2 Thunder Power 7.4v 2100mah lipos with Maxx prod regulators
Plan on using:
DL50 (also considering the Brilleli 50cc)
(5) Hitec HS-5955- Titanium Digital servos
Jersey Modeler fueler
What else? Anything I listed that I shouldn't use?

I think AK- Models has the same plane on sale for $415.00. Although I'm not sure about the shipping price. ak-models.com

Brian,
Your equipment should be OK.
I personally prefer using 2 Li Ion (2400 Mah) batteries on the receiver for redundancy. I get over 10 flights (10 Min each).

Mad,
You can use 12" on the ailerons, and 20" to 24" on the elevators.
You also will need a couple of short ones in the receiver for ease to connect the ailerons.

I ordered mine today and the owner said they are going out the door very quick. I really dont need another plane but for this amount i couldnt pass it up. WIll mount a Taurus 3.2 up front and use the new A123 2300 pack for receiver. I did advise the call taker and on the notes when ordering i wanted one with no issues on quality. We will see

You have to look to see if there is any damage! If by chance there is damage or something is missing, they may be all sold out by Christmas and replacements may be difficult to come by.

It will be inspected by the company i have ordered around 30 arfs over the last 10 years and have only had one plane that had damage The owner advised there will be a price increase when they get to the point of being low on inventory so there will be planes. If it is damage i will simply ship it back for a refund. I am not gonig to worry about it . Its a good company i have heard.

BAS,
I know Ken is checking each and every one of these planes before they ship as there were a few issues from the factory initially.
I think what rdb127 and bass1 were trying to do is give cshepard some excuses so he could open his boxes!!!!!
I cannot imagine having to wait until Christmas to open up my new toy!!!
Anybody else get theirs AND open it up yet?

RE: Performance Aircraft Unlimited 30% Extra 330l SALE!!!
I got mine today and no visible box damage but did find the cowling had a dent and crack in it. I hope I can get a replacement. I found the covering job is not the best in the world. There are a lot of bubbles and wrinkles in the covering. I found a few places where the wood is showing and one place where the covering looked like it was cut into with a knife. From a distance it looks OK. I guess for the price that ain't too bad.
Anybody else look theirs over yet? What did you find?

RE: Performance Aircraft Unlimited 30% Extra 330l SALE!!!
Ok, I just took a cursory look at the airplane and it looks good. There is a slightdent on one of the elevator counterbalances, nothing a little bit of heat gun won't take care of. Also looked like one of the CF alignment pegs was glued in crooked on the right hand stab, again not that big of a deal.
The covering is nice, but the overlaps are all over the place on the trim colors. I will definitely go over the airplane with the iron before starting any assembly.
I could also see where the worker who installed the covering used a marker to denote where the trim was supposed to go, hopefully that will come off with some goof off or like product. It is on the bottom of the stabs.
I did not unwrap the fuselage, it would have taken me 30 minutes just to get it out of the box. Speaking of boxes, both the fuse and wings are double boxed with heavy duty cardboard. I noticed in the fuse box a nice BME hat and a super heavy duty landing gear. The wing and fuse bags are a nice touch! Everything looks to be in great shape and I can't wait to get the build started on Christmas. Of course I will post here as I assemble this beauty. Included are a few pictures......
Stabs: top and bottom
Wings: top and bottom
Fuse box
and goodies shelf with eagerly waiting motor that wants to propel this baby.

Very Nice JohnVH! Just looks a little bare without a pilot or pants though. Wondering how tough it would be to come up with some cuffs to put on the gear to fuse attach point?

Yep, totally up to the pilot as to what they want to install and I respect that! [8D] I've always enjoyed viewing your photography on RCU.
