RE: Extreme Flight 110
yeh it has a vent on the front left and an exit on the back rear towards the bottom, works well, in fact they talked me out of a roof vent saying you dont need it and it may leak eventually, ...the one on the back side is low like i said, it has that same cover over the screen but facing the other way, one of the guys at the field said it looked like jato assist

Completely killed my 110" today. Pulled into a wall. Thought it was a bit slow, and that I forgot to hit HIGH rates. Flicked the choke instead and instantly killed the motor. Deadstick into the ground with no airspeed 40 degrees nose down. Had about 40 flights on it. AWESOME plane with the DA85 on Slimline muffler.
IF I replace it with another EF 110" it will be the Russian Thunder scheme. Otherwise, a Bill Hemple 40% Cub is calling my name. Different leagues, I know. BTW, this was my third EF build. Between me and three of my flying friends, we have had 11 EF planes so far. More EF to come, just might play in another realm for a little while.

RE: Extreme Flight 110
Need help Guys,
Has anyone taken Decibel readings with a 100cc and carbon fiber pipes? Or any exhaust or engine combo in that matter. Ready to take the plunge finally and I figured I would ask before I drop the money. For once I am actually thinking ahead.... Thanks for any help.

The plane flies great on mufflerswith a Vess 27Aand has plenty of pull out.

I do have sound issues that I am trying to work around. I will listen to anyone that has a quite setup. I definately want a smooth transition. I do not want to sacrifice performance to much.

RE: Extreme Flight 110
Like I said earlier. I think that the MTW RE2 pipes are the way to go if you have to use pipes. Lee (mxcop) has been have really great luck with his DA 100 on MTW RE2 pipes.
I have a DA 50 with an MTW RE2 on an EF Extra and I had very good luck tuning the pipe and have very little throttle curve. The engine has a smooth transition and very mangable while hucking it around.
I found that with the ES Composite pipes that I never good get the peakiness tuned out. No matter if I shorten or legnthed the setup the pipes were always peaking right at half throttle were I wanted to hover the plane. It made my plane look like it was on a pogo stick and I was always on and off the throttle. It just made the plane no fun to fly. I put the mufflers back on it changeds from the Vess 28A to the Vess 27A and have been smiling from ear to ear ever since.
I did not just try the pipes for a while and give up on them. I put almost a year of research and effort into getting the pipes to tune. I tried everything and it seemed that it had no effect at all. With that being said it took me three trips to the airfield to have the RE2 on the DA 50 dialed in.
Like xtraflyer said the DA 85 on the MTW RE3 pipes has been getting some really good feedback. I just like the twins better.

RE: Extreme Flight 110
Rush7,
Ihave the RE2's and ES55Gs.
The RE2s where easy to set as there is loads of info for them on motors like the DA100......and MTW make headersspecificallycut to length for them.
The ES pipes are a different matteraltogether. It was not easy to find good info. I ended up taking the motor, in this case a BME116, out of the plane and spent about 8 hours on a bench playing with props and different header lengths.
All pipes have a point where they come into resonance and if your planesweightis such that with the prop you are using, it is just coming into resonance at your hovering RPM, the throttle will get very sensitive. The cure for this is to change props, or lengthen the headersso the pipe is less in transition and more "on".
Can Iask what header length you where using?
Best,
Branwell

RE: Extreme Flight 110
im using stock mufflers, but i thought i heard that cans are better than pipes as far as transition, they are not like a long tuned pipe, plus i heard the do perform better than stock mufflers because you use a header which flows better, anyway i think id look into cans(in fuse silencers some call them) before id look at a tuned pipe, but i have no experience 1st hand just going by what ive seen at my field and heard from others, i could be wrong on all my info

RE: Extreme Flight 110
If you want a super quiet plane run a set of pipes on a DA-100 with a Mejzlik 25x12S Three blade. With my greeve pipes it is quiet enough you can hear the sound of the air rushing over the airframe. My Mejzlik 28x10 will bark some at full power. Transition is great with the greeves also. It would be hard to go wrong with greeve or mtw pipes.

RE: Extreme Flight 110
i fly my 110 with my other buddies 88 sometimes, we did some close hovering too, it was realy cool, if i drift out away a tad, they look the same size...i dont go to his field that often though, its further and im not fond of the crowds there, my field is further for him as well...anyway i have the 33% sd and i love it, thats why i was curious about that one, looks like a good flyer, if i could afford it id love to get the 40% one
