Default AUSTARS 42% YAK (now with vids)

Hi guys i just got the 42% yak to test from www.austars-model.com in australia. They have had these planes made in one of the top leading arf factorys. The planes is very well built comes with carbon wing & stab tube. The tail wheel landing gear & wheels are of good quality & control horns it comes with will be used. The hinges are center with carbon rod with bushed hinges very neat..Covering held up to a very hot day over here when i dry fitted & left it in the sun for 3hrs to test the covering out. They said test so that means weather & flying IMOThe plane is very well priced to.PM me for price if needed & they can be sent to any country from factory just not sure on time frame yet.I hope to have it finished in 2 weeks as im on holidays.I only wont to 3d this plane & keep my red bullcomp arf for my 1st year in IMAC next year

Wingspan: 122 inch

Length: 112 inch

Weight: 36-40 Ib

Wingarea: 2807 sq in

Engine: 150-180cc petrol

1ST test motor will be a MVVS116 on 3204 cans.Lets see if these MVVS116 can fly a 38 pound plane
2ND motor will be a DA150 or ZDZ160
5955x4 on wings 2x tg for rudder 2xtg for the stabs,
emcotec mini 5
2x 3200 PA lipos
2700nimah on ignition
cheers glen

Nice Glen! I have seen that tunnel somewhere!...Will it take pipes?

Torch makes a 180 that I would love to matchup with a frame like that one.

http://www.torchengines.com/english/engines.htm

Do you have winspan and wing area yet?

hi guys got a bit done today.I can say i like the way all the holes are drilled in hard wood ready for control hirns make it so easy.
Fitted the canopy & the emcotec,rx made a fuel tank holder all 6 servos in the wings i thought there was only 2 in each lol.The pull pull is fitted just need a new 100mm PA carbon arm i cut the one thats in it for a 100cc extra [:'(],
The way this plane is going together is great every thing lines up the way it should zero deg on the wing meter.
i might just have it flying next weekend the way it is going together
cheers glen

Question : why is this considered a 42% yak? If it's only 122" wingspan , isn't that the same size as the 37% SD models yak? Awesome looking bird though man....i really dig that color scheme.

hi jeff to awnser your question correct im not sure why the SD is 121'' & the AUSTARS in 122'' & being a few % apart.
I do find it funny how my comp arf yak 36% at 106'' yet it is so much smaller the the SD 37.5% at 121'' then the TOC 42% YAK is 129''.I will look into the full scale size & see whos the closest. The price is being worked out now for the USA market .I will be able to tell you more when shiping price details are ready & being xmas time i need to wait for the new year,
have a merry xmas jeff

Looks like it's made at the same factory as Wildhare. Looks nice.
Hi the factory which they are made has built many top world class arf plane. To say where would not be fair for the other companys
these are AUSTARS range of planes. There are 3mtr cessnas with great detail being built for austars next shipment
I no if i had the money to have new arf planes built for our market this factory would get my work.

Hey thanks Glen! Much appreciated. I really do dig that yak! And as far as the scale size goes.....your 100% correct. I think all airplane outfits should come to some kind of a real scale type measurement for these birds. I didn't even think about the 40% yak compared to the 37.5%.....you would think there would be a bigger difference in wingspan. Oh well.......we'll fly em anyways hehe. I'll be looking for updates on this yak for sure to , i might be interested come summer time. And merry Christmas to you to.

I only got a little done today mounted the emcotec switch. One thing i did notice today was in the wings there is two 12x12 mm square stacked together on each side of the outa wing tube in the wing running the hole length ,Very strong it would stop flex which is great for hard flying.here are pics of the wings with servos in them.I just need to make carbon pushrods now.I cut the slots under the plane for cooling to

The full scale wing span is 26.75'. [link]http://www.aero-concept.com/fiches/54.html[/link]
40% would be 128.4"
38% is 122".
37.5% is 121"

I like the looks of it. Can't wait to see the price & availability.

fitted the motor & cans today. The best thing was the drop on the cans in the comp arf were the same as i needed for the 42%
easy fit mad a holder for the i still need to put silicon holders.made a compresion plate for the air but still not finished.
The motor was mounted on the factory center line & put the cowl on & guess what it was in the middle[8D].Great work from the factory to get tis right 10 out of 10[sm=thumbs_up.gif].I fitted the tank rudder servos emcotes rx & lipos in aswell but no pics yet,
The plane is going together like a QB there are templets for the canister mount tank mounts so i will talk with the owner of austars & have them put in the next kits to help us guys out
cheers glen
